One is a Yankee who has a disdain for anyone southern or rural. He's that stereotypical Yankee who looks down on others he feels arent as intelligent or sophisticated as he thinks he is. He's married to an ultra white liberal woman who works at a university.

One is a lazy miserable guy. ...Always whining about coworkers, bosses, etc. He's been married three times and I see instantly why the first two dumped his arse.

One is an elitist. He never shuts up and never listens to others. He too has an arrogance about him that is sickening. He has no awareness how much people dislike his personality and fake friendliness.

I never talk politics with them but they're friends on Facebook and I see their posts. Thankfully, I dont have to be around them much but they are employed by companies i work with.

I have dozens and dozens of straight male friends, colleagues, gym buds and coworkers and theyre all conservative or lean conservative. Altho i dont poll them and ask about their politics, they're mostly family men, employed and go to church and thru general chit chat, you can sense they're conservative.

Of the gay men i know from work experience, all were liberal and they love to let people know their politics.

I know lots of straight liberal men, most of whom are white.

Many of them have rhetoric that is stuck in the 80s. They say things like "Trump voters are voting against their economic interest."

Or, they are "citizen of the world" types. These are highly educated. They're not connected to their local community at all, and like the idea that they could move to Berlin or Singapore or Casablanca on a whim. They're anti-borders, as borders inhibit their ability to travel. They view conflicts between nations as conflicts between rulers who use nationalism as a tool of power. The believe that "nations" in the traditional meaning are not legitimate groups - the people born in your country aren't more similar to you than people born in other countries. Combined with the fact that a lot of their friends are elites from 3rd world countries, they view colonialism as one of the most evil things the world has ever seen.

Some of them are obsessed with the idea of power. Some of these (the psychopathic types) want to gain power, but most of them simply like to view the world in terms of Victims vs Oppressors.

Many are atheists. They are close-minded to the idea of the supernatural, and any appeal to universal morals triggers their ears to close. They understand arguments about freedom and power, but are not interested in arguments about tradition, duty, or responsibility. Many of these are also turned off by discussions of philosophy or history (which is not surprising because those discussions tend to lead people to arrive at a belief in God).

And then there's some who live in a bubble where they have no idea what conservatives actually believe. Their idea of a conservative is a strawman. Some of these are even open-minded - they are reachable if you have enough time and patience with them.
