Say what you will about the people who investigated the Clinton scandals in the 1990s. But they secured numerous criminal convictions and guilty pleas for acts of banking/financial fraud. All that, aside from the “sex” scandals.

Russia, of course, is always looking for new and different ways to p¡ss in America’s punch bowl, and the 2016 campaign was no exception. Be mad at them for that, if you want to.

But I’m very skeptical that Russian actions have “reduced confidence in our system and process”, however you define those terms. The lack of confidence, IMHO, is more rooted in the fact that the US is politically split into two huge camps that actively hate/despise one another and will not do anything that they think “helps” the other side. In other words (and with a tip to Walt Kelly) we have met the enemy, and he is us. He has been us the whole time.
