Poor person and rich person get charged for same crime. Poor person cannot afford bail and is stuck in prison pre trial, which makes preparing a defense incredibly difficult. Rich person is out on bail and can more freely assist and contribute to his/her defense.
Don't commit the crime. Simple, I know...
What if you are being wrongly accused?
Then you'll usually be exonerated and your bail money returned. Otherwise, it's an inconvenience of having a system of justice based on the rule of law and an event that likely doesn't in general occur to any significant degree. Although, I don't know that to be true and I'm sure the wrongly accused aren't concerned with how often such an event might or might not occur in general.
