RE: Hundreds of African migrants attempted to storm Spain's Ceuta
This is a common occurrence at Ceuta and Mellila. I guess that since they're not white South Africans, they shouldn't be allowed to apply for asylum. Unfortunately, most of these people are economic migrants, and do what they can to make a case.

And here's the issue. Countries have laws allowing for asylum requests to be processed. There's no way to access due process for a migrant unless they are on the soil of Europe or the USA/Canada. You can't apply in your home country, because the decision will not be made by a real judge, you have no appeals process, and you have no due process rights. In the USA, as well as in Ceuta, the authorities simply prevent people from even applying for asylum by closing off access to the border.

If they reach Spain, they get usually placed in a humane camp (unlike the inhumane camps where Trump houses kids) and have a hearing as to the merits of their case (unlike in the USA, where a special immigration judges never believes any cases of asylum for example and even interrogates 3 year olds with no legal representation on an asylum claim).

THe solution is to create safe places where all fleeing violence can be processed, have a real life while the cases are processed, where the threat of death or severe persecution based upon the person's political activities, race, religion, creed, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation can be FAIRLY investigated and a decision can be made as to where that person can be free and functional. Safe places aren't like Manus Island , where asylum seekers spend decades in a jailcamp and there's no real chance of getting out. Not sending people to a third country where they have zero chance of functioning.

The solution is also to punish those that create situations like that. That would mean punishing Myanmar, Russia, much of the Arab world, in order to help them no create these problems.

The solution is also to help countries achieve stability to be able to enforce human rights. Exporting gang members to Honduras creates asylum seekers at our border. Allowing open air gun markets and buying drugs creates Mexican asylum seekers. Slobbing Putin's knob creates a whole host of asylum seekers (most notably Syrians). Being Saudi Arabia's BFF causes Yemeni migrants. Ignoring Myanmar's abuses causes asylum seekers.
