No, I believe it was a strategy to appeal to racism and racial resentment in more direct and blatant ways than Republicans had dared.

so you do think it was a deliberate choice. No wonder you cling so bitterly to the "intentional" descriptor.

Quote: You seem to have convinced yourself that the hate and racism and misogyny are just figments of people's imagination, so I doubt I'll convince you otherwise.

I've heard locker room humor and bragadoccio from so many people who do NOT hate women. My own Hispanic grandmother used to warn me as a child not to talk to the wetbacks (her word). You hysterically attribute hate, racism, and sexism to the slightest nonPC words. What if he had just said "some of them are rapists"?

Pointing fingers is not the way to get my support. Remembers me of the "She's a witch" scene in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". And it sure smacks of that smug superiority I spoke of. Stupid rednecks. How can we save them if they won't let us?

I never thought Trump was a good choice. When we had 17 people on the Republican slate, I thought he was somewhere between 14th and 16th. There was one on the Dem side who could have gotten my consideration, but he couldn't get the time of day from Lil Debbie et al.

IMO, I could never, never, never vote for Clinton after Benghazi and the Benghazi aftermath. I wish the Dems had not preselected her eight years ago (or was it 16?) But not being for Clinton did not make me for Trump.

Being disrespected by the left did not and does not make me feel like I want to join them in their smug superiority. I know too many good honest people who didn't go to college and work for a living.

I guess we won't convince each other. I will continue to regard the left as classist snobs, and you can continue to regard me and my friends as morally bankrupt Yahoos.

But at least we can have this civil little talk every four years. Probably in 2020 you will be celebrating the return of the country to the moral high ground. Hope I am here to see it.

best of luck to you and yours in all your endeavors.
