If you're a fan and this crushes you then it's okay and there is nothing wrong with you. You aren't alone in this feeling and you don't need to "care about a child's game less" because of it.
For many Tiger fans this is so much more than just a basketball game. I personally think that's what makes our school fan base elite.
I wouldn't want it any other way.
I hate that we lost that particular game not only because of our chances to advance in the tournament but for the individual players. The work that they put in to get there and the heartbreak for the seniors on the team. We were certainly good enough to go deep in the tournament and to lose it because of the crappy officials just makes me sick.
The officials DID NOT LOSE this game. We had the ball with less than 10 sec remaining & simply couldn't complete a pass to one of a couple of open guys. Then we couldn't defend an inbounds pass. Despite the temptation to blame others, especially the refs, we lost this game.
The officiating was terribly lopsided. On the play they added time to, resulting in 3 points and an extended shot clock, the ball went out of bounds off Florida Atlantic. The T on McCadden alone was telling when both players were pushing and the FAU clearly flopped. Then there is their decision to ignore our calls for a timeout. FAU got every break from the officials for whatever reason including the 4th foul on DeAndre which was clearly a turning point the FAU player hooked DeAndres head and pulled him into himself. A blind man could see all those calls were wrong not to mention the clear path tech that should have been called on FAU that wasnt.
There are so many more I'm not going to rehash, but that said we still could have and should have won and this loss was on Penny and the players. We stop their 2nd chance points we win going away. Very disappointing in to what might have been one of our greatest seasons in a long, long time.

When your team ***** the bed when the path to the sweet sixteen opens up it sucks.
Let’s move on.

perhaps this speaks to the quality of their ability to officiate at a high level.

Entirely possible. But remember, there are fewer tournament games to officiate this week than last week. So some refs have to go somewhere to work....

Totally agree. Find a hobby
Yep, after losing in to KU I pretty much had to readjust my fandom. It shocked me how depressed as I was after that. Told myself no way could I let an essentially child’s game affect me that much again. Don’t get me wrong, it irks me when we lose, specially to a team I think we’re better then but life is just way to short to get over emotional. JMO
The KU loss and Calipari leaving definitely had too much of an emotional toll on me. I readjusted how I feel about sports. Now I just take it for what it is. If we are struggling I don't get too down. I imagine if we have a great season it won't be the most important thing to me but I will be. Definitely didn't read this board much after the loss in the tournament.

I agree. If they were being "punished" they wouldn't be able to officiate any postseason play.

I wouldnt say they were being punished. I would say they didnt make the cut to move on in the tournament.

The sports I grew up loving are all dead now. What I am left with are entertainments, which I still enjoy, but which no longer consume me as they once did. Too many other higher priorities now.
