RE: Cadence Dykstra
Macy Brown, who won, played at East Grand Rapids who lost to Dykstra's West Catholic team this year, and they finished the year 15-9 while GRWC is still undefeated having won the region, and are hearing to the state finals. Brown is a Michigan commit, and sister of Jillian Brown who was a top 50 national recruit who signed with Northwestern. Those latter two items probably helped her in the voting.

Dykstra came in 2nd, and Kennedy Blair, a BG commit, came in third.

We should get to see Dykstra play against Brown next year when Michigan visits Savage - assuming that reported game is still on, after UT's win in Ann Arbor.

RE: Cadence Dykstra
Am I reading right that Dykstra averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists this year? https://www.bcam.org/wp-content/uploads/...ykstra.pdf

If that's actually true per the Detroit Free Press and Macy Brown averaged 25 points, 9 boards and 4 assists...I wouldn't say that one won over the other because she's going to Michigan.

Didn't say that she wasn't deserving, just that she has more name recognition that Dykstra, likely, due to those factors.

Just based on statistics, UT recruit Macey Fegan would have been Miss Basketball in Michigan. I can't find her final senior year averages, but she scored well over 2,000 points in her career and I believe was near 30 per game her junior season.

Yeah, she had a couple of 50+ point games too, there were more than a few nutty statlines. Reminded me a lot of another person from up that way, Kysre Gondrezick

Dykstra led all scorers with 16 points as her West Catholic team advanced last night to the state semifinals.

Reportedly Fegan averaged 28 points and almost 15 rebounds this year. Don't know why she wasn't considered.

I could get behind bias playing a part there. Small school, outlying area, probably a lot of voters either knowing nothing about her or devaluing the competition. Happens a lot in Ohio with individual award voting too, more specifically in football than any other sport.
