MBB SEMI FINALS
4 blow outs in the quarters, one coming from the underseed 5, Ohio.
Someone will hit some shots against us. It's been since the beginning of the UB and CMU games the other team has had a pulse offensively. Fend off runs. Don't get too sped up.
They may outdraw us with fans. I expect a large contingent for Saturday.

RE: MBB SEMI FINALS
Facts to ponder about the Toledo and OU
Ohio and Toledo last met in the MAC Tournament on March 12, 2021 with Ohio defeating the then-top-seeded Rockets, 87-80 in the semifinals.
LAST TIME AGAINST TOLEDO -
Ohio and the Rockets met on Jan. 17, with Toledo winning, 90-75 in Toledo. , the Bobcats were led by a career-high 21 points from Elmore James. Dwight Wilson III added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
It is hard for me to imagine that this veteran Rocket team is going to be beaten by freshman AJ Brown, who went off for 28 points against Ball State today, or freshman Elmore James, who scored 21 against the Rockets in January.
If the Rockets can pressure Junior Jaylin Hunter into a few turnovers, contain Grad student Wilson in the post and Senior Miles Brown on the perimeter, who ranks second in the league in three-point field goal percentage, then the Rockets should survive to advance to the finals.

Toledo favored by 5.5 early. We haven't had a close one in a while. Balls game was in hand and fluctuated between 6 and 12 pts. Ohio just can't get off to a confident lead with say under 8 mins in the 1st half? And we will be locked in.
That Ohio game 2 years ago was 2 teams without a bench. Their NBA guard went off and so did their ACC transfer. They pulled away right before half and had control in the 2nd half. Milner did have 26 that game with Mars 29. Acunczo and Saunders were our only bench mins...

RE: MBB SEMI FINALS
in that previous mac tourney semi we couldn't guard jason preston. he set everything up and got wilson and vanderplas in a rhythm. he did the same thing to virginia in the tourney. last year they had sears but we handled them. this OU team doesn't have a star but they have a complete roster and a good coach. the key is the defense on their pg hunter. he's streaky and when he plays well OU is pretty good. otherwise, they are average. watch his game. if he's making plays and hitting shots it's going to the wire. if we frustrate him we'll win comfortably. wilson is similar to miramboux. wide body w touch. we usually contain him, but the help will need to come enough to bother him. need solid minutes from AJ again. wilson can't guard anyone other than AJ and we will likely exploit that.

I’ve often wondered how differently that 2021 game may have played out if Preston had to deal with Ra’Heim Moss the entire game….

This might not be the same OU. The one we have played this season had an injured Brown. Whether his poor shooting then was injury or guard defense, I'm not sure that's clear? He's healthy now. I wouldn't discount him in the least, particulalry with how easy we lose sight of guards on the perimeter. He was very highly ranked out of a solid basketball program. He scored 28 points against Ball St. because he's that good. They have two Jason Preston's now. And they can bring in 6'8" 250, along with two other 6'8". It will be a challenge.
Hopefully we have a little more guard defense than Ball St. This is an OU team that can keep up in scoring.

RE: MBB SEMI FINALS
This has all the makings of being a "shootout" as both teams have balance throughout their lineups that are difficult to contain. I think the one edge Toledo has is Dennis, who when he is at his best (which I did not think he was yesterday), is almost impossible to defend which makes Toledo's offense even more dynamic. I think one major key for Toledo will be defensive rebounding as you do not want to give Ohio 2nd chance opportunities as they are too good on offense to allow for that. Never less, it should be very entertaining game with two high powered offense going at it.

RE: MBB SEMI FINALS
Dennis against Miami shot over 50%, had 5RBs, 3 steals and only 3 TOs. Dennis was on-game yesterday. The team scoring was balanced as it should be when talent is balanced and the PG is on game. More of that. It allows everyone to play their defense on the other end of the court.
Again it was an oversized guard that kept the other team in the game. That wing guy. OU has two very capable Fr scoring guards, now mature and now healthy. In-season game, James came off the bench 8-10 including 2-3. They were never in the game so it didn't matter. Now it does.
I'm most interested in how K chooses to defend their guards or if he goes for out-scoring. Still Freshman, no matter how talented I'm hoping we have more smarts and can get their guards into some difficulty.

RE: MBB SEMI FINALS
Freshman guards now playing the number one seed, UT is healthy, Ball State wasn't. Lets see if their guards can play under pressure, no they do not have two Jason Preston's. There is a reason why they finished overall 19-13 (lost to Detroit, a beat down against Florida, a close lost to UM, but who hasn't play well against the Wolverines this season), 10-8 inside the conference, having lost games to BGSU, EMU, at Miami on Feb 25, 68-85. I don't expect UT to run away with it, but a 10 point (UT is favor by 5) win is expected.

They usually stream the game on the CBS sports app if there is an overlap.

11 minutes left on UAB-N Texas on their network. Would they delay the MAC? Find out in a couple minutes I guess.

Probably won’t delay cause they’re stacked with games tonight.

This is insane. There's still 9 minutes left of this UAB/NT game. Not cool at all if we have to miss a good chunk of our game.
