I'm not sure Rynearson is a better option than Tom Adams field at Wayne State

Located downtown, recently renovated, on top of a highway. are more than 6000 fans going to want to attend USFL games?

I hope Eastern does everything in their power to get this. I would have to believe the USFL would pump some money into the stadium for repairs/upgrades/enhancements. The parking situation is great; good seating capacity. Also easy accesss to Willow Run Airport which is preferable over Metro for charter planes.

This would be a big plus for EMU.

Agreed. If they can pump any money into that dump and make it better for our team, I'm all for it. I lobe the football program and detest our ratty stadium

Perfectly stated. Since the university will not fix our dilapidated dump of a stadium, we need to find creative ways to do it.

Dear steve4840 and holybovine,
Sorry to disagree with the both of you, but Rynearson is not a dilapidated dump. Does it need some improvements? Yes, but to call it what you have is in my opinion, not correct.

I’m sorry Ken, but the visitors’ side alone is grounds for condemnation.

The bathrooms and drinking fountains are not up to code. The upper-bowl has railings that are unstable or hanging out. Hence the tarps. The cement steps are unlevel/crumbling in multiple areas.

If anyone seriously inspected that side of the stadium, I wonder what the results would be?

It’s a good place for a grade-school game.

Dammit Ken you ride the elevator up to YOUR seats in the Presidential Suite. You don't stand in a long line for YOUR food and drink which, by the way is far superior to the concessions two stories down. The restrooms up there don't have puddles on the floor. You are akin to the guy who lives in a gated community in a slum ridden city. Rynearson needs a ton of work in the eyes of us "little people".

I'm on the CID train here. We need to be incredibly receptive to the USFL. The original lighting system at Rynearson was installed by the Detroit Wheels of the WFL after all. Those games can also be a gold mine to the city of Ypsilanti. U-M stadium has hosted the NHL winter classic as well as the Soccer International Champions Cup and they put a bunch of money into the local economy.

I agree folks with the notion that maybe EMU can get who knows say 1M for hosting USFL games and use that money to renovate rest rooms, concessions, repairs, etc.

Rynearson has a good field, lights, and scoreboard. Apparently good sized locker rooms and is well suited for broadcasts.
Rynearson needs almost everything else.

Dear Jerry,
I sat where the "little people" sit for over forty years. I know of some of the things many are complaining about. I even admitted that some repairs are needed. Complaining here is not going to motivate the right people. How many here have directly complained to Scott Wetherbee?
The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and remember Rynearson West is over fifty years old, and Rynearson East is thirty.

Valid point Ken. It is indeed time for me to express my concerns directly to the AD.

I was at the UB game and took note of the TV cameras. I remember one from the press box, one mobile unit on the EMU sideline, a couple in the end zones.

Only thing missing was a drone camera, but MAC football isn't B1G FB and CBSSN isn't Fox.

Four or five cameras are sufficient for USFL.

Quote:EMU athletic director Scott Wetherbee confirmed to The News on Monday that USFL games will not be coming to the Eagles' home stadium, but the university remains in active discussions to host USFL practices.
