Don’t Feed the Trustees
We have seen this recipe before:

A cold overcast November day, with a little drizzle and wind and temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s.

A three-game losing streak that has disheartened the fan base.

That other school to the west is playing a top-10 school on the road at the very same time as our game.

Some of our fickle fans are trying to teach the administration and coaches a lesson by not coming back until changes are made.

All the makings of a nearly empty stadium for a second straight week.

This was not supposed to happen after #TheReturn, and after we got the shiny new stadium, and became a winning program.

Please come to the game today. For the home team, who desperately need this win to get to a bowl game. For the seniors, who have given us the winningest five years in UAB football history. And for the future…so we won’t give the trustees an excuse to continue to undermine our program.

Go Blazers!

Likely there is only a handful that feel that way. UAB attendance always drops off dramatically as the season progresses and I don't think the record has much impact. We just don't have many die hard fans and we haven't done enough to create new ones. Couple that with bad weather and a losing record and you get an empty stadium, pre Return or post Return.

If you want fans in the stands in November, get in the Top 25. Period, end of discussion. You might think that's unrealistic but that's the market we play in. Either get there or don't complain about the empty stands.

I was there but not in my normal comfy cushion seat... I sat with the +20 that came from my church's youth group to watch one of their own throw for tuition at halftime.
