VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Big congrats to the Volleyball Team. They took down USC UPSTATE, GEORGIA ST and CLEMSON this past weekend to win the tournament.

Way to go Ladies.

RE: VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Is it possible for our volley ball team to get an at-large bid to the ncaa tournament?

New coach seems to be very well qualified, and from a layman's standpoint could be a home run. Dr. Sander seems to have made another great hire. Time will tell.

What a difference a new season makes............ Now 0-6.

https://www.etsubucs.com/volleyball/news...e-in-four/

Got a lot of freshmen on the team, but also have 3 grads. Not sure of the quality of who they lost, but I think some key pieces.

Now 0-8, and haven't won as many as 2 games (what they *now* call "sets") in a match. But Davey is undefeated, and High Point is now 5-3, so...............I dunno...........part of it may be a tough schedule, but that's not unique to this year.

Didn't even sniff a game win yesterday against two good teams, the Western versions of Michigan and Kentucky. May have a shot for their first win today against a poor Ball St. team - but who knows?
Sumpin' don't seem right......

RE: VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Annnnnd...............Bucs also lose to a weak Ball St. team 3-0, altho came close to winning one game. Now 0-11 to finish the OOC schedule. They've even quit putting the record in their press releases; that's how embarrassing it is.

Last season the Bucs went 15-1 in conference (21-7 overall), and Coach Jenkins was coach of the year before being lured away to be an assistant at Ann Arbor.

Fire both Quarles and Atkinson tomorrow??? (Ain't gonna happen - just sayin'.)
Anybody got any inside info?

RE: VOLLEYBALL TEAM
The inside info is this: Doc Sander has his hands full.

The volleyball coach is his hire so can't blame that one on Scott Carter but sheesh, the athletic dept as a whole has been a dumpster fire since Carter started as AD. Carter's hires definitely gaslit the spiral toward the sorry state the Buccaneer Athletic program is currently in. Those hires and the general incompetence under Carter's watch, coupled with the current collegiate sports landscape, i.e., 2 mega conferences poaching any school or university, player, coach, or any entity that could add perceived value to their coffers and to hell with tradition, geography and the carnage/destruction of all the other D1? institutions. The transfer portal and the loose multiple transfer rules, NIL pay-for-play of today's collegiate "amateur" athletes and the wild west hired gun atmosphere that came with it, etc.

Did I mention Doc Sander has his hands full.

Well, well, well........................

https://www.etsubucs.com/volleyball/news...reensboro/

What that release *doesn't* say is that UNC-G is now *also* 1-13. Whatever; a win is a win, as they say.

Had Chatt on the ropes with big leads in last 2 games. Made all kinds of unforced errors and let Chatt come from behind to win match.

RE: VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Does anybody know what's happened to the Volleyball Team. I realize they have a new coach but his credentials on paper were creditable.

Preseason Pick to win the conference.

Not even competitive in nearly all matches.

Bucettes beat an (ostensibly?) pretty good team of Woofers last night for only their second win, but lost today to an *undefeated* El Cid military girls today.

RE: VOLLEYBALL TEAM
It was very clear that there was 'something' wrong. But I'd sure like to know what. Will some player(s) please post the details? Please?

Good chance it was a "my way or the highway" situation with some players, but that's purely a guess. A team doesn't go from being "that good" to "that bad" so quickly without some significant injection of bad blood of some sort. Most train wrecks are more easy on the eyes.....03-puke

Given the lower profile of volleyball, I expected us to keep this coach and avoid another buyout.

Altho a (hypothetical) valid concern..........................Sander don't play like that. He's not gonna be around here forever. He's already retired twice, after all. He doesn't want to have stuff dragging athletics down any longer than *absolutely* necessary on his watch. ("Either get on the bus or it's leaving without you." (paraphrased slightly)) Also..........reading between the lines.....................there may(/must?) have been some sort of personal friction, either with the players, or with other administration, be it Sander himself or otherwise.
