RE: MVFC Going to FBS?
Football-only members do not count toward your minimum to be an FBS conference. Football-only would do no good for CUSA after the emigration happened. They needed full members to stay alive.
Quote:20.02.6 Football Bowl Subdivision Conference. A conference classified as a Football Bowl Subdivision conference shall be comprised of at least eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members that satisfy all bowl subdivision requirements. An institution shall be included as one of the eight full Football Bowl Subdivision members only if the institution participates in the conference schedule in at least six men's and eight women's conference-sponsored sports, including men's basketball and football and three women's team sports, including women's basketball.

If you noticed? I did not say football only for C-USA for MVFC schools to fully merged all sports.

I was responding to this:
(08-08-2022 02:20 PM)inutech Wrote: The additions of SHSU, JSU, Liberty, and NMSU are easy to explain. You need 8 teams to have a conference, and 9 is quite a bit better than 8. These were the best choices that the conference had at the moment when they needed 3 (and understandably took 4). ...
Not wanting football only members is also pretty self-evident. And the difference is that CUSA needed members, and now CUSA doesn't need members and can be more deliberate.

You don't join a conference; you get an invitation if they think you'll add value.
Don't believe me?
Why hasn't everyone joined the B1G or SEC to share in the wealth?

Temple was only in the Big East for football, and the Big East only had eight football playing members. I guess the NCAA bylaws must have been changed since then.

It was when there were full-members. Last year was 2012 when the Big East split off and the AAC was born.
