It seems like every day since 1985, I've been checking the sports news to see if UTA has made any move to restart football. Every Spring, we have another sports banquet at which former football players or teams are elected to the Hall of Honor, and as a result, there will be a couple of stories in the news about football glories of the past.
Every so often, a former coach or former player will be in the news, usually the obits, and there will be another few stories about UTA football.
Once a year, the UTA student newspaper The Shorthorn will take a break from its mission of promoting wokeness, and do a story about football, usually giving great weight to arguments against football.
And when a new President takes over, the subject comes up again. Now, in fact, we have a new President and a new Athletics Director poised to make their marks on the athletic programs, so let's hope UTA will soon cease to be the largest non-football university in America.
We can't truly claim Tier One status until we have Tier One Athletics, including football!
