Fire the coach and let the kids play without one. Bet they get the same result. Heck, sign some rec kids to play.

RE: Congrats to NIU baseball
I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that coach Kunigonis is on the final year of his contract. Now that a plan for the field has been announced is seems a certainty that a new coach will be in place for next year. With field upgrades, Chessick/Yordon and an abundance of talent in the Chicago area, there's no excuse for a losing program going forward. It will probably take the new coach a while to right the ship though.

Yes, I believe he signed a one year contract for approximately $85K a year ago. The contract can be found on the NIU website.

Edit. Actually here is the link.

There’s a plan for a new field? If that’s true would you provide a link please?

Baseball alumni have been asking for something since 2017 and we’ve been told “it’s coming”.

Yet more BS from STFu. I hope the program gets something.

Never did he say there was a plan for a "new field".

He said "a plan for the field" and, which has been announced, there are plans to install field turf on the infield this offseason as well as a couple other things (like the bullpens or batting cages redone and something else which escapes me).

But no one has said there would be a "new field". Not since the Master Plan which we all know went out the window some time ago.

Good point. My baseball acumen took over. “New field” to me is a new infield and or outfield. A new stadium to me means everything is new.

Same meaning from different angles my fault.

Akron must be really brutal.

Actually, NIU is 10th. MAC has eleven members for baseball. No Buffalo.

Akron must be really brutal.

Keep in mind, they dropped the sport from 2016-2019. They only resumed the program in 2020, after releasing all of their players after the 2015 season.

RE: Congrats to NIU baseball
Thank you, HuskieDave. Honest mistake. So NIU sucks more than 9 teams instead of 10, plus a team that doesn't even exist.

BTW, thought you all should know ... the combined cost of artificial turf for the baseball stadium infield and soccer field is estimated at $1.26 million. Separate costs for each were not broken out in the report to the Board of Trustees on March 24.

If there is a contract extension, STF has already done it but there won't be an announcement for seven months.
