That's why we are still in CUSA.
Florida hasn't done sh*t in years. They have a serious empty seats problem.
The only reason they matter is because they were in the right conference in 1930 and they can get by with all that sweet TV money. They can afford to be mediocre for decades until the right HC comes along and makes them a power.

Then a down finish to 2020 and struggles this year and boom
Not sure he would not be able to get back to his 11-2 very soon but obviously FL felt otherwise. Acting quickly sounds great to the Internet chest puffers but it is not always right
Florida's mistake could be Memphis' bonanza. Silver can stay on staff as the morale coach.

That is all true and hard to accept. Memphis always has the hard scrabble road..... always.

2 national titles and a Heisman in the 00s
And four ten win seasons in the 10s

You are right
It's hard to believe Florida never won a conference title until the 90s.

They had a few top five teams in the mid 1980s but were on probation

Not to us older folks that remember. They were kinda a Kentucky in football.
Yes that Dickey. The one that was getting his butt kissed by Lapides and acting superior before we beat them in 96.

Recruiting woes is probably one of the main reason why he’s out more than just simply wins and losses. In that there was no sign of a glimmer of hope for the future, as some teams flipped some of their commitments and they’ve been subpar in the recruiting rankings by Florida’s standards. Add on that He got raked over the coals for his comments a few weeks ago about worrying about recruiting till after the season and that probably sealed his fate outside of Losing to Missouri

Florida has the money to tolerate. We don't.
True, fla. fans there show up with a 500 record. We cant get 50k when we play for the conference championship at home
Florida has 56k undergraduate students. We have 17k.
Florida is the state school of a state with population pool of 21 million people to pull.
Memphis is a regional school with a metro population of 1.3 million.

This is exactly it. Word on the street here is that it wasn't simply Mullen's bad season this year, but a combination of factors including his abysmal record against P5 teams as of late, his attitude, and the fact that their recruiting is falling off a cliff. If there was something positive to look forward to in the future of the program he may not have gotten axed, especially when there are other big name schools seeking a coach.
