Other games - men’s Hoops
Hofstra playing without Jalen Ray and up 10 early against Final Four Houston. Very interesting.
Kante transferred out
Coburn Transferred to St John’s
Ray is out.
And they are looking good.
Speedy Claxton an upgrade vs Mihalich and their fill in last year?

37-31 Hofstra at the half. They’re athletic with some size and depth and no Ray still. Houston ranked 15th.

Carlow is worse than the Valley District all-stars. Brutal. VMI was nice and did not play any starter more than 19 minutes and still won by 56

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
Hofstra gagged on the big one blowing a 13 point lead with 7 minutes left at Houston.
Going into OT now and the Cougars have all the momentum.
Would have been a great win for the CAA as Houston hung their Final Four banner and was an 18 pt favorite.

Watching future conference-rival Louisiana host West Florida... Good grief their arena is MASSIVE! The capacity is over 12,000, but the way its structured, it looks like 15k+!

Hate watching smaller schools lead the entire game and blow it at the end. Hofstra missed 4 shots, plus a turnover in the last 2 minutes, any of which could have won it for them in regulation. Overtime has been a slow cruel death for the Pride.

UVA been struggling with Navy all game. Hope they don’t lose before coming to town but don’t see that happening. Road game at Houston could prove trouble for them.

Other games - men’s Hoops
Navy, minus 2 starters, giving UVa a game. 53-51 mid 2nd half.

RE: Other games - men’s Hoops
I didn’t want UVA to lose. Was hoping they could come to JMU undefeated with lots of national attention in December before JMU knocks them off.
I’m not sure if JMU is going to be good enough to beat them this year, but I am sure that UVA is the most vulnerable they’ve been in 8 to 10 years. I don’t see a single NBA talent on their roster. The last 5 minutes was hard to watch as their offense looked like dog doo doo.
Navy is not good and they were missing starters too. Still handled UVA on the road with relative ease down the stretch.

Deshon Parker and Darius Banks still playing for Cleveland State and Chattanooga respectively. Limited minutes for parker and banks had an OK game with 7 points 7 rebounds

UVA men looked terrible last night. Can't remember the last time both their mens and womens teams lost on the same night.

Dwight Wilson didn't see the floor for Ohio. Injury?

Dwight Wilson III (Ohio’s leading rebounder last year) will be missing a significant portion of the upcoming campaign due to knee surgery

Good. Screw the rest of the CAA. Considering JMU likely has no shot at an at large bid in any sport outside of softball (and football obviously), I hope all of these sh!t schools crash and burn hard.
Edit: Gonna add in that women's hoops has a shot too but the women's committees tend to be even less accommodating to non power conferences than the men's.

If I remember correctly, Hofstra and Charleston were the two that voted in our favor.

I must admit, my eye will still wander to CAA results, but I'm hoping my focus can be more on Sunbelt results from our new Conference. The CAA comes into play as far as strength of schedule this year, but if the CAA is improving or what young players it has is something I'm not going to focus on.
We're not longer part of the CAA, we just play a lot of it's teams this year.

Yeah, kinda how I feel. Except I do want CAA teams to win OOC because that is the only way JMU could have an outside shot of getting a postseason at large bid this season.
The Hofstra choke job was a big one. That win would have reaped benefits all year for the strength of the CAA in NET ratings.
And most CAA schools have scheduled poorly for SOS this year.
There are really only 15 chances to move the needle in OOC for the conference and 3 have been lost.
Giant Killer games…
Delaware zero
Northeastern zero
JMU HOME vs UVA
UNCW at Pitt
W&M at Wake Forest(lost)
Drexel at Syracuse
Towson at Pitt, at Ohio St
Charleston at Ok State, HOME vs UNC
Hofstra at Houston (lost), at Maryland, at Arkansas
Elon at Florida(lost), at West VA, at UNC, at Arkansas
