Any thoughts? We're the top two total offenses in the MAC, could be a barnburner.

Perfect. After our defense hits the field, we are all going to need some relief.

I said I'd be satisfied going 1-1 between NIU & CMU. Now I want more. I'd love going into Infocision already bowl eligible and run a victory lap on the Zips.

Also thinking about our defense, as an armchair head coach, having never played football, ran assignments, tackled, and rarely caught a ball in my backyard, and coming from a family history with no athletic ability. However, in seeing how our pass protection seems to be the weakest link, let me ask you other professionals. Is our defense having a hard time keeping up with the offense?
The defense would probably love a slow paced game where the offense as a couple 7-minute drives. Our Flash Fast offense goes out, scores fast, puts the defense back on the field; which is really cool. I'd assume when the coaches present this style of offense, they'd get the endurance for defense, but it still has to be tough have rests that are only 1-3 minutes long between stops.
Thoughts?

Well, after all, the Soaring Eagle Casino is the SEC of hookerland.

Are you sure that you mean our "pass protection" seems to be our weakest link? Our QB has had very good protection all year. Even against the Power 5 teams his sacks were not out of line.
Now if you want to question our defensive pass coverage, I have no issue saying that we have given up too many receptions, particularly long ones. But if we observe games nationally, we will see many very high scores. IMO, QBs' have evolved into passing machines and it seems like everyone has become a receiver. Offenses in general, have to date won the battle. In years past, Crum who be talked about as a first round draft pick. This year another QB is discovered by the media every week.

In conference games. Kent is #1 in points per game (38.4) and yards per game (505.8). Pretty impressive. Unfortunately we're dead last in points allowed let game (39.2) And yards allowed per game (527). So on one hand you could say we have the best offense in the MAC. On the other hand you could say, no, the best offense in the MAC is whoever is playing us on any give week.

Agree, GFlash68. I've mentioned basically the same thing a couple of times before. The yardage and the scores at all levels, HS through the NFL, have become incredible. Outside of Georgia who can stop anyone anymore?

That's what I get for trying to discuss one team while watching another game on TV.

Pretty sure the Jags just beat the Bills 9-6 this past Sunday.

There are still low-scoring games, but they are much less common all the time.

Not being an expert I’m pretty sure if the offense stopped running around like chickens without their heads the defense would look better (or at least give up less points) but that’s a coaches decision. Happens in all sports. Paul Westphals Loyola Marymount teams in basketball, the Wayne Gretzky Edmonton Oilers etc. Only baseball is somewhat immune to it.

Thought we were doomed right from the start with a short kick and good field position for CMU. But we’re off to a nice start so far, with the defense bringing the heat and the O doing what they do best.
