RE: Cignetti's New Salary/Contract for SB
With Louisiana’s Napier going to Florida, the Sun Belt avg head coach salary goes down. He was the highest paid by far at $2 million annually. He also had an astounding $2.5 million for his assistants. Not sure how Louisiana funded the salaries with a small athletic budget totaling only $37 million and a football budget smaller than JMU. They must have some donors subsidizing the majority of the salaries.

Will Cig’s new salary be recalculated for 2023 if Louisiana’s next coach is lower paid?

Louisiana fans say they will ante up for their next coach also. They seem to be well funded in that respect. They may even pay more next time.

Believe we will get at least median salary and the median doesn’t change in this case so no.

Cignetti will get paid this off season right? The payout from a bowl would have been nice in offsetting the increase a little.

400K for a "Division Championship" that he didn't win. 05-stirthepot

Haha for Coastal's admin having to pay a huge bonus for something they didn't win.

Wasn't sure where to put this

Hookers and Blow in Auburn

You know there has been a call from Lynchburg to Harrisonburg. Freeze was making 5M a year.

That $400k bonus for a G5 division title is huge, there’s FBS coaches making less than that per season. It seems his salary is heavy on bonuses.

I HIGHLY doubt Cignetti wants to go coach at a CUSA school. That would be the end of the road for him in my opinion.

I don't think so either but 5M/yr with some contract longevity is generational changing money.

Bourne and Cig should be having a sit-down to renegotiate his contract as well as the contracts for his assistants. Results matter and they have earned it.

If this is not already happening and Cig leaves Bourne should be fired.

Is that not the ADs job??? If we are saying it here, they should be WAY ahead of us. If he negotiates and ups the ante and Cig leaves that is not on Bourne but if he does NOTHING and he leaves, that is on him and YES when you don't do your job you should be fired despite our trophy's for all society.

True, Houston bolted for a fraction of that. The good news is I think Liberty with their hubris and pot of gold will be looking for another disgraced P5 "legend" peddling for another chance. I could see them paying $5-$10 million a year on a hire.

Good Lord, in 25 years as AD, Bourne built one of the best G5 athletic programs in the nation with winning percentages and modern facilities. Cut the man a break, he did not just fall off a turnip truck.

Yeah what is this haha. I about laughed out loud at calling for Bourne to be fired. I'm sure he's working on the contract as we speak.

Unless Bourne can print money, he's going to offer everything at his disposal.

RE: Cignetti's New Salary/Contract for SB
Even if Cignetti leaves (and that is still a big if), Bourne has a good track record of hiring coaches in most sports. He hired Mickey Matthews, Everett Withers, Mike Houston, and now Cig. We are an up and coming FBS program, in an exciting conference and division, that has an engrained culture of winning. We have great recruiting connections and can target players in the portal as well. I hope Cig, Sunseri, and the whole crew run it back another year. If not, I'll be disappointed to see them go, but have faith we will attract plenty of great coaches.
