FWIW, Mike Bohn's record of hiring head football coaches. I would hope some prominent USC boosters/supporters steer him right.

Idaho
Tom Cable (11-35)

San Diego State
N/A

Colorado
Dan Hawkins (19-39)
Jon Embree (4-21)
Mike MacIntyre (30-44)

Cincinnati
Luke Fickell (37-14)

So now officially a waste of a season for all players. Way to put them first. Could easily fire the guy late in the season.

Or at the end of last year or the year before, or the year before that.

^this

Unless there is some egregious infraction, firing a coach after two games makes no sense.

He had to go now. The alumni, which has never wanted him, is completely done with him. Sports talk shows are calling for his head. The LA Times had two of their best sports writers calling for his firing now. USC AD Mike Bohn did not hire him and has no loyalty to him. They have lost some recruits.

Four-star Defensive tackle Jay Toia, a freshman recruit who practiced with USC in the spring, transferred to UCLA in the summer “because he didn’t fit with the coaching staff in spring ball.” USC was not deep at DT and that hurt. They have lost a few others as well that just seemed strange. Something is going on at SC.

Luke Fickell, Cincinnati coach: Fickell has to be the No. 1 candidate considering Bohn hired him at Cincinnati in December 2016. Fickell has almost single-handedly put the Bearcats on the map and into the Big 12. Without that excellence, Cincinnati would still be a place that hired Tommy Tuberville. Ryan Day isn't going anywhere anytime soon. That's Fickell's alma mater. USC is the next best fit at this point.

I think that they should have given him at least two more years.......

When the time comes that Notre Dame or Ohio State start looking around for a new head football coach Cincinnati fans will start worrying. Until that day arrives, Luke ain't goin nowhere.....

I think they'll hire Tom Herman after it becomes clear Steve Sarkisian won't be able to come close to matching what he did.

So is Mark Dantonio. Fickle has done a great job of cleaning up from the Tuberville era

There are probably a couple of B10 schools that Fickle would consider. But you have to at least kick the tires when a blue blood like USC comes knocking. I think he stays at UC for now, but I’m a little nervous.

I don't see Fickell being the next Gary Patterson. In all seriousness if Patterson wanted to move up in his career he should have taken a few jobs around 2004-2006. I just think he got to comfortable at TCU.

Fickell could literally be taking a team to the playoffs in a couple of years in the B12. Cinci may get some P5 pimp love from the CFP poll prior to that as well.
