RE: Rice vs UH Game Thread
UH had 3rd down & 6 deep in their territory on their first series of downs. But way-off DB coverage allowed an easy throw & catch for the first down to the right sideline ... and the Coogs were off for a rather effortless scoring drive. The score came on a wheel route to a WIDE OPEN receiver ... short pass/long run for 35 yards.

Sigh.

Looks like Green warming up.

Luke back out.

Well it didn’t work on the 1st drive. Let’s do it again!

Second verse ... same as the first: Run up the middle on first down. Gains little (2 yards).

We are, and I can't stress this enough, atrocious running the ball up the middle. Like it's hard to tell if Griffin is a good HB or not, because there are no running lanes.

Why stop at first down?

3 and out for Rice again. Arkansas defense must be terrible.

3rd & 5 pass to Bradley crossing the middle (shallow). Too high. (Again!) INC. Punt.

Sigh.

Another 3 and out for the Owls. WTH did the coaching staff work on this week? How to get worse than last week’s ending?

Looks like the Cougars practiced this week. The Owls, not so much.

Run-run-pass only works if you have Jarett Dillard. He's long gone.

For how bad this has been, our right defense remains very much a strength. Probably because we face so many draws in practice.

Finally a nice defensive play to force a FG.

And here I was about to whine about not being able to see the actual game. All I can see is JP Heath. Just as well. Might cut the audio feed soon if things don't improve. Good grief, how much is Rice paying Bloomgren?

Made even more nonsensical after factoring in the injuries to Rozner and Pitre.

Taking bets: is the first play of the next drive a draw up the middle?

On the bright side, the weather is perfect (in the shade) for a mid-Sept. game.

Uh held to a FG. If the offense could get a few 1st downs, Rice just might hold UH to less than 50 pts.

They wouldn’t try it again, would they? I’m in for yes!
