Volleyball
Volleyball is off to a good start. At this moment they are 5-1 with wins over three D1 opponents.

RE: Volleyball
I meant to get a thread started on the VB team just hadn’t got to it yet.

They’re definitely a bright spot, and the team should continue to improve as they grow as a cohesive unit.

They’re 4-2 after dropping the final in the Windy City Classic.. but they’ve got a chance to have a very bright season!

And Feliz and Almeyda, their two big hitters, are just a sophomore and freshman, respectively. Future looks bright.

Especially when you consider that in the three-year stretch from 2008 through 2010, we were 0-88, this season looks very impressive.

Official site says this is the best season our volleyball team has had in the D1 era, which dates back to 1988. That is something to get excited about, especially since we should only lose Jaclyn Inclan next season. Of course, she has been a big part of our success.

Yeah, I checked back on their w/l history and this is easily their best season by far. I think the most previously was 12, and they’ve never been over .500 in a D1 season.

Coach Trifonov better be a Cougar til he retires! He is the orchestrator of this phenomenal team. We have to do whatever we can to keep him around.

I would be surprised if he doesn’t have a setter waiting to come in next year to continue leading this team. Jac has definitely been a huge part of their success… no doubt about it.

Hope CSU gives Coach Trifonov a hefty raise!! Much deserved.
Also hoping GCU meets CSU in the WAC tournament since we fell on opposite sides of the bracket.

RE: Volleyball
I've kept an eye on Indiana U volleyball since Chicago State beat them 3-0 early in the season. They aren't a great team, currently 12th in the Big 10 at 3-13. With that said, they're in the Big 10 and are capable of beating multiple other Big 10 teams, so its still a great win for the CSU program.

Off topic, but Chicago's other Big 10 win over Northwestern soccer was another highlight of this fall. Northwestern finished 7th in the Big 10 and was 3-5 in the league at 6-8-2. In the Big 10 tourney, Northwestern beat #2 Maryland and advanced to the semi finals before losing to Indiana.

I don't know how we got her to Chicago, but that was a huge recruiting coup. With Yanlis, Nailah and Bere, we have the hitters lined up for a while. Ece and Andrea are both freshmen, so they probably are the candidates for the next setter.

RE: Volleyball
After the season we had, that was an excruciating loss in the WAC tournament. But the fact that our official site even mentioned the possibility of an at-large post season bid says something for where the program is. And presumably the only player we lose is Jaclyn.

Huge game tonight for this program. Let's get it done, ladies!

I sure hope we get a good crowd turnout for the tournament. If I weren't 700 miles away, I would make the drive.

RE: Volleyball
As a matter of fact, this volleyball game might be the biggest game in any sport that this program has had in a long time. Ride the horse that is healthy, and right now the only racehorse we have is volleyball.

Can we all get on board for Sam Houston and Chicago State both winning tonight so we get an All-WAC site final tomorrow? 04-rock

Unfortunately, that did not happen. Great seasons for both teams though.
