Monday Musings - Any Day
We don't have a Monday Musing for this week...

Big story which could effect EMU athletes (FB) is the re-creation of the old USFL.

Who knows how well it might do, but it will provide opportunities for players, and that is a good thing.

This is the headline "USFL to return on Fox in spring of 2022" from The Athletic.

Between that and the potential expansion / merger of the CFL and XFL i think you could see real potential for a feeder league between college and the NFL.

So I'm watching the Washtenaw County collegiate coaching talent moving East.

First, Rob Murphy goes to the Pistons for their G-League team.

Next, a former UofM coach makes a B-Line also to the Pistons.

I'm starting to go through boxes from my basement. Some interesting stuff like transcripts and some EMU sports stuff.

Found an email from the Barnes era. The sender talked with some parents...

Found a PM from this forum many years ago (early in English's tenure) about our frosh OLs, etc. from the parent of a player who would know the abilities of the OL.

Interesting.

Oops. I should have been clearer: the comments were from the parent of a DL. 03-idea

A Rob Murphy story behind a paywall. This story would be considered very favorable to the subject of the story.

Interesting that Murphy met Arn Tellum (2015) the VP with the Pistons through Troy Weaver with whom Murphy is friends. As the article indicates Murphy had plenty of pro opportunities.

Interesting opportunity for Murphy. Pistons are in the middle of a total rebuild and their G-League team will be critical for development of their younger players. Much more so than an established contender.

Now we need to see if Wayne State can move up to D-I status while doing (What ?) with their FB team (it can't remain in the GLIAC). Maybe go to the Pioneer League.

My opinion which is usually wrong about such things:

Juwan is comfortable in Ann Arbor as it is his alma mater, if he were coaching in Austin or Westwood, he might have a different outlook. His son is on the team as well with four years of eligibility remaining. Also besides the potential salary increase, the main allure to the NBA is the ability to say goodbye to the recruiting grind. Juwan to date, has done an amazing job getting thoroughbreds to U-M, he is still young and HS prospects can still watch the ESPN documentary about the Fab Five.

I suspect he will do the NBA interview Kabuki dance that Izzo and Beilein did to leverage an improved contract. Four years from now... another story.

RE: Monday Musings - Any Day
Now that we have Monday Musings June Edition may this thread R.I.P. and go into the bit bucket of history.

(bit bucket is old computer programming jargon: "In programming languages the term is used to denote a bitstream which does not consume any computer resources, such as CPU or memory, by discarding any data "written" to it. In .NET Framework-based languages, it is the System.IO.Stream.Null.[9] )"

And that is thanks to Wikipedia.
