BC scored in the top of the 1st inning on a sac fly and held NU to 5 hits. But 4 NU pitchers allowed 7 hits and struck out 15 Eagle hitters.

NU had several chances to push across a run but the offense is struggling, especially at home.

Starter Eric Yost took the tough loss (1-1, 4 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K). Jordy Allard (2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K) and Dennis Colleran (2 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 3 K) were awesome in relief.

NU starts league play this weekend with a 3-game series at Charleston.

Watched the last few innings. The young relieve (Colleran) was pretty impressive.

Really frustrating. Obviously a lot to like but we are not doing our resume any favors with our offense.

NU is back on the field Tuesday as they host 16th ranked BC.

The game features two of the hottest teams in college baseball. NU is off to its best start since the 1940s, while BC is currently in its best start in program history. Both teams currently sit in the top 10 of the early season RPI ranking, with BC having the seventh-highest RPI rating, and NU at the ninth-highest.

So far, NU has hit 33 homers to begin the season, already outperforming the 27 they hit as a team in 2022. On Friday against NC A&T, the Huskies smacked 8 homers in a double-header sweep, and ripped 7 HR's in game one.

NU, playing its first game against a ranked opponent this season, defeated #16 Boston College 6-2 at Friedman Diamond. NU went 5-3 against ranked opponents in 2022.

NU got a solid start from RHP Jake Gigliotti who got the win, and offensively they were led by a 3-run HR from Alex Lane helped the Huskies to a midweek win over the Eagles for the first time since 2019.

The Huskies have a quick turnaround as they host Merrimack tomorrow afternoon. The game is at 3 p.m. on FloBaseball.
