1-15 / 1-21
6 / 5 Houston
58 / 56 SMU
50 / 59 WSU
82 / 75 UCF
68 / 79 Tulsa
134 / 110 Temple
107 / 112 Memphis
105 / 118 Cincy
119 / 122 South Florida
128 / 129 ECU
170 / 189 Tulane

These aren't the 1-21 updated rankings. At least as of today - maybe that they updated again last night. Memphis is 91.
I updated on 1/21. Which is for games through 1/20. Memphis is 91 after winning on 1/21 which would be the 1/22 update

RPI's current conference ranking for the AAC is #4. (!)

The problem in the AAC isn't the AVERAGE performance level, it's that we don't have a "top" right now after Houston.

I think SOMEONE will get hot late and steal a #10 seed.

Our RPI is artificially inflated by ECU and Tulane going undefeated in nonconference play.

AAC is the #4 ranked RPI conference, yet #7 in NET. It seems like the NET is doing it's job of propping up the cartel exactly as intended.

Our conference is pretty weak.

ECU and Tulane went up by about 80(!) total points. The top of the league didn't have a chance to do enough due to COVID and coaching errors.

The league basically compressed itself this year into a tighter group.

Or - to put it less kindly - a regression to mediocrity (and yes Memphis is one major reason) .....

That average was taken with yesterday's rankings. Memphis is #59, probably the highest they have been in awhile, and well below the 102 average.

Now, if you're talking Memphis contributing by not being what they were 7 years ago when they were making the NCAAT regularly, okay, but our "slide to mediocrity" happened years ago, not any time recently. We're actually getting better now, hopefully permanently.

RE: 2021 NET Rankings - Updated 1/21
The bottom of the conference is worlds better than it has been. The middle is about the same. The top other than Houston is the worst it has ever been. If the bottom teams can be top 100-150 type teams that's big for the conference, but we desperately need more tournament caliber teams.

My point is Memphis has not elevated the AAC from 2017 to date in a manner meeting reasonable expectations. Tubby strangled the program, but there is good reason to believe Penny will place Memphis on a higher plane.

Okay, but we were discussing the 102, which Tubby had nothing to do with. That's why I was confused, lol.

Updated for 2/10 - Memphis is the only team with a big jump up. Tulsa, UCF and Temple all with big drops back since my last update. WSU keeps dropping back even when winning thanks to close games.
