I usually get to see Morgan State in the MEAC tourney at Norfolk, but with COVID that has been almost 2 years ago And I don’t really recognize many of the players. It appears they have a guy from Holland that has lit it up offensively so far. 6’8” 235 lbs and shooting 70% FG, 64% 3pt FG as their second option. Their Transfer via Florida Gulf Coast and previously UNLV is leading the team in scoring and blocks. He is a 6’9” string bean playing guard on offense and flourishing at his 3rd stop.

Should be a good test for the Dukes.
Will Fredericks Finally play? He is the last x-factor where we really don’t know what he will bring to the table.

Seriously, did he have a broken leg or something? Healing time seems to be taking forever. I missed Byington's press conference this week. Any interesting player news?

Morgan State lost their 2nd leading scorer on the first possession to injury and have proceeded to shred the Dukes defense. 21 pts in 6 minutes.
It has to get better and should with the Dukes already in the bonus super early

Dukes up 38-35 at the half

Any FloSports fans watching

Dukes tightened up on defense and started contesting shots better after getting smoked in the first 6 minutes. 3 pt lead at the half 38-35.
Dare I say Mensah actually made an impact. He forced a Timeout as the inbound defender and he blocked a shot at the rim. If he isn’t going to provide anything offensively at least he could make the team defense better with his height and length.

No sighting of Fredericks...
TJ Taylor didn’t see the floor again.
Coach By appears to love his Freshmen as they are getting heavy minutes.

My audio is over modulated . Not a Flo Sports issue but our broadcast I’m assuming . Real aggravating after awhile

Hard to watch this game. It is very disjointed and the Dukes still lead by 3 with 8 minutes left. Too close for comfort.

Wow. Hodge with a total boner to end the game. He gives up a wide open 3, then proceeds to miss an open Lewis on a fast break, then he misses the front end of a one and one to tie the game. Yikes. He's supposed to be our best shooter but his decision making is suspect.

Also, wooden needs to stop falling in love with the perimeter. I want the wooden that posterized mason last season. Not the one that goes 2-7 from 3

There is no more continuity after 7 games than there was at the start of the season. Morgan State had the same lay-off as JMU and seemed to be more scrappy with a ton of offensive rebounds.

STILL just the absolute worst. It never changes.

Just looked at the stats. I saw we were out-rebounded by Morgan State and blocked less shots, ugh. I also saw that Jacobs and Mensah combined for 6 minutes. Anybody who watched it, were we uber-concerned about leaving someone open for a three or is this just because of an absolute commitment to positionless basketball? If you are going to go 7-26 form three, we kind of need someone in the middle.

Hodge's late game miscues were even worse in person. That was yet another Rowe-like collapse at the end. D was terrible and they're back to chucking 3s all over the place. No one works the ball to the outside like we do. We should've beat them by 15.

Postgame coach By called out his team for lack of toughness with the exception being Amadi.
He didn’t comment if Morse was reinjured but something was amiss as he played In the first half But not in the the 2nd.

He also said he would shorten the rotation Going forward to find those that will play with toughness.
For those that watched, there is more to it than that. He has to put people in position to be physical. Right now, everyone has a green light to take 3’s and nobody besides Amadi stays in the paint. So I would say part of the toughness problem is he is letting big bodies roam the perimeter on offense. Wooden and Christmas could be so much better if they defaulted to the paint and occasionally flashed to the outside. Instead they live out there.

This game should have been won. It was just as much his fault as the team getting Physically out scrapped.
