One of my high school teachers and three people I went to high school with died from covid in the past week. That now makes 12 people I personally knew who died from it since last summer.

yeah that's sad and all... but what's the overall mortality rate from this again??

In all seriousness, I am sincerely sorry for the people you knew that you've lost.

Sure does suck when things like numbers and statistics get in the way of your dumb*** claims. I guess saying a whole bunch of 30 year olds are dying is cooler tho. Moron

Covid related hospitalizations in Alabama down to where they were a month ago. Still too high but trending down for now.

Can you post an article related to that? Numbers in my area have not gone down yet, and are worse than in the winter by a significant %..

Yeah man, it sure does suck when 12 people you cared about, including an immediate family member, died.

I'll not violate any rules on this board, and I'll just leave it at that.

I just look at ADPH's Covid Dashboard. Click on the Data and Surveillance Tab and then click Box 7 at the bottom of the page to pull up the hospitalizations chart. Still ugly but been a recent downtrend that I hope keeps diving.

I only know two people that have contracted Covid (both my older sons) and zero that have been hospitalized. Guess that's the randomness of life.

But I'm probably a rare Alabamian in that none of my family members or friends are obese. 80% of Covid victims have been obese. Lifestyle choices and culture are a big but unspoken factor in Covid fatality. It hurts but it's the truth.

ADPH Covid 19 Dashboard

Makes sense that it would start to trend downward about now from the peak. Falls in line with some of the data of other countries also.

From Jama, 2020 Death in the US by cause:

Heart Disease: 690,000
Cancer: 595,000
Covid: 345,000
Accident: 192,000
Stroke: 159,000
Alcohol and 100,000+
Opoid Abuse

Several of those causes of death are very related to lifestyle choices (including Covid). Why not mandate that citizens must maintain a certain body mass index? Why not prohibit sales of cigarettes? Why not prohibit the sales of sugary sodas and fast food? Why not prohibit sales of processed convenience foods that are known to be unhealthy?

80% of Covid victims are obese. Unhealthy lifestyles have clogged our medical system for over 40 years. The healthy subsidize the unhealthy with higher insurance premiums etc. Where is the government intervention?

Easy answer. I can't pass my fat onto you.

Easy answer. I can't pass my fat onto you.

No but the obese don't seem to mind passing along the related costs to their fellow citizens. Over many decades in a nation as large as the US, those costs, and deaths, dwarf those of Covid. Based on the stats, the pandemic itself would have taken a far smaller toll on the US if Americans weren't on average in such poor shape.

My point is there seems to be just as clear a case for government intervention with the unhealthy as with the unvaccinated. Personally, I'm against intervention in either case. I think it's better to leave those issues with the private sector and I wish Biden had done so. I'm not in favor of having the government intrude into my life any more than it already does. Just wait though, that annual BMI report is gonna have be to filed right along with your 1040 as well as your Social Credit Report. Sigh.

One in 500 Americans has now died from COVID.

At each sad milestone, I am struck by how so many have had to completely contort themselves to keep their heads buried in the sand.

Boys more at risk from Pfizer jab side-effect than Covid, suggests study

Quote:Healthy boys may be more likely to be admitted to hospital with a rare side-effect of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid vaccine that causes inflammation of the heart than with Covid itself, US researchers claim.

Their analysis of medical data suggests that boys aged 12 to 15, with no underlying medical conditions, are four to six times more likely to be diagnosed with vaccine-related myocarditis than ending up in hospital with Covid over a four-month period.
