We all wish he had won more too. It's plain to see that he was not the right hire for us. Many of us saw it in 2016, but Anderson had enough success, that enough of the fan base was still behind him. Through subsequent seasons, more and more were starting to see it too, and wanting a change. But, with the tragic news of his wife's cancer return, the pitchforks were laid down, as we knew what was likely in store, and we knew somethings were more important than football. Anderson has a provision in his contract that he gets an automatic contract extension if he gets 8 FBS wins in a season. He failed to do that in 2017 & 2018. It was still possible in 2019, but the USA loss prevented that. 2020 was the last season on his contract since it did not automatically extend, and we were fine with just letting that run out. Our AD has shown an inability to fire under-performing coaches, and just let their contract run out and not renew. However, in the off season, Anderson was awarded a 3-year contract extension. I would have been fine with a 1-year extension, so as not to hurt recruiting with lame duck season, but many were not pleased with the 3-year extension. So here we are, in a nose dive, and nobody believes that Anderson can pull out of it. There is a large amount of people not renewing their season tickets, and it will just get worse unless we make a change.
What if Anderson makes some fantastic staff hires in the offseason, and winds up having a 10+ win season in 2021... does that change anyone's mind? Or have the people grown stale with him, no matter what?

Anderson had a great initial staff, which I believe, overcame what Anderson lacks to be a good HC, and thus had some initial success. Now that those coaches have moved on, who he has replaced them with is not up to the same level, and has exposed Anderson's inadequacies. We have no faith that Anderson can make any changes that can turn the program around. He has shown that he is very stubborn with changes, and his approach to everything has pretty much been a failure. The league around us has vastly improved and we are just falling futher behind until we make a change.

UNT posted 4 titles and collapsed. Troy had a 5 year run of winning or being in the hunt and collapsed. Cajuns had a 4 year run of winning and fell apart.
App is on a six year run. AState had a 9 year run that is falling apart. AState has not had three four TD or worse losses in conference at least since 1974 because so far none of us have looked any further back. It may have never happened before.
My armchair MD degree makes me think he needs assistance with depression and grief but the fact remains AState spent a lot of money on a new press box and premium seating, new end zone club seats, indoor practice facility, and new locker room, clubhouse, offices, meeting rooms and training rooms that have to be paid for. The good news is AState had actually paid ahead on the debt so had room to cut the payments with Covid-19 and was able to refinance at a lower interest rate to save even more going forward. The problem is premium seating is funding this and the 7 year pledges expire after next season.
Blake is cheap to fire. He’s owed $500,000 a year for the remainder of the contract with only $200,000 of that each year guaranteed. The remainder is subject to offset from any other earnings. Payments are due monthly and because of how the terms are set it’s possible Anderson might opt to take a single lump sum to walk.
My expectation is absent some crazy run to end the season that he will be done.
Ironically, last year Anderson's name was still being brought up when P5 jobs opened up.

Brought up. And he was shopping hard if you believe the rumors on the internet. But he couldn't close the deal because he really didn't have the "signature" win over a P5 and he hadn't won a conference championship lately. He got his win this year. And then the wheels came off.

So Anderson is pulling a page out of Larry Blakeney's book, and recruiting a lot of JUCO's?

Yes, and we were all rooting for him to get one. He interviewed at Missouri and USF. Turned down interview at UTSA. Rumor was he was getting offered Missouri job, but then someone vetoed it.

RE: Ark St
Coach Anderson had some good coaches / recruiters in his first few years. Walt Bell, Trooper Taylor, Jo Cauthen, and Brian Early to name a few. They have all moved on and either the new coaches are not as good or not as good at recruiting.
Seems like the talent has dropped off or not kept pace. I don't think his teams over the last few years would fare to well playing against the talent and the teams frombefore.
QB like Aplin / Knighten / Hansen - all better
Dbacks / Linebackers / Rush ends / Running backs - same issue
The only area where stAte players are just as good may be at receiver.
Everywhere else, the team seems to be less talented.
Anderson doesn't usually win against more talented or teams of equal talent. Kansas State this year was one of the few times where his team beat a more talented team.

Levi Lewis just isn’t a championship level QB, period. Championships are won with a solid defense and a QB who can actually win a game for you all on his own.
We'll trade you a great QB for an O-Line . . . Or some linebackers . . . hell we'll take anything for one of our 2 starting QBs . . .

I was looking at Ark St schedule this morning for the power rankings thread. Started off pretty strong but it does look like the lug nuts on the wheels aren't tightened all the way. Of course, ask me how I know what that looks like..
Otherwise, entertaining thread. The earlier comments of App St peaking were humorous. Just because Mike Trout hit less home runs one year than another doesn't mean Mike Trout is slumping...

For those not in the know, Adams was caught on campus, parked in a handicapped spot, with a gun in the car and the "smell" of weed being smoked but no weed actually found. He did tell the police about the gun in the car and said he was not smoking any weed. No evidence to prove otherwise based on media reports.
Yet another example of how this team is completely off the rails right now, IMHO. And his presence won't make that much of a difference to the outcome of the game. Cajuns will roll.
