9 U of L players (including 6 D-Linemen) out for today's game against the Hokies.
It was already going to be tough to take on the 4th leading rusher in college football. Now, without 6 D-Lineman, our best LB (Monty Montgomery) and a safety (and punter) .... it seems like it will be an impossible task.
Oh well .... it was bound to hit us sooner or later.
Gonna hope for a miracle -- or an Arena Football like score ....

Hokie Mark says: try playing UNC without your first or second string DBs, then call me.

Once Duke broke Leary's leg I was hoping that State would use Covid to duck the game with UNC. No such luck.

Well ... solid effort.
Our offense wasn't up to the task. Needed them to be close to perfect. They weren't. But some uber young D folks got some solid experience. This year was already a wash .... so there's that.
Only losing by 7, with only 5 D linemen available, and our best LB out? I'm ok with it.

I thought Louisville looked good and gave VT a tough game. Keep in mind, though, that the Hokies were also missing 10 players, including their best cover CB and both starting DEs IIRC. Who knows what it would've been like if both teams had been at full strength? I wish we could see that happen...

I would expect that you have a whole lot more depth than Louisville does. We lost more experienced players before the start of last season than anyone in the country. We have started building it back but they are green with little to no game experience.
Congratulations on the win yesterday. We need to do that more often than every 7 years.
Satterfield must be an awfully good coach.
He has gotten great effort from his undermanned squads since he arrived at Louisville.

You are right --- it would be nice to see how this game would have transpired with both teams at full strength.
And I wouldn't have raised the issue if our attrition wasn't so focused on one position group. Take 9 players off our offense and defense, instead of just our defense, and it stings, but not so dramatically.
After a couple of bumps (which you'd expect with any coaching transition) to start out, I think Fuente has the ship going the right direction. I expect big things from the Hokies going forward.
Good luck the rest of the way.
