Exclamation RE: Narduzzi year 6
Record of Head Coach Pat Narduzzi, Pitt Panthers (2015–present)
Code:
Year    Overall    Conf.    Standing    Bowl/playoffs
2015     8–5    6–2    2nd (Coastal)    L Military
2016     8–5    5–3    T–2nd (Coastal)    L Pinstripe
2017     5–7    3–5    T–4th (Coastal)    (none)
2018     7–7    6–2    1st (Coastal)    L Sun
2019     8–5    4–4    T–3rd (Coastal)    W Quick Lane
2020     3–2    2–2    (Coastal)
Tot.:    39–31    26–18

His ACC record is not bad (although he's never lost fewer than 2 league games), but I could see fans taking issue with his non-conference record (13-13) and his bowl record (1-3).

To say that his ACC record is not bad is something of an understatement. In his five full years at the helm, only Clemson and Miami have won more conference games. Miami has won 25, while Pitt and Virginia Tech won 24 each. The only other ACC teams with more than 20 conference wins in that stretch are Florida State and Louisville, with 21 apiece. Everyone else is below .500 for those five years. That's what happens when one team dominates the league as Clemson has (38-2).

What's also telling is that four of the six teams the ACC has added from the old Big East are among the top six football teams now in the league (joining Clemson and Florida State). That's a pretty good showing IMO.

That ACC record looks impressive until you realize that Pitt plays both Syracuse and Duke every year (Narduzzi is a combined 12-2 against those two teams). He's 14-16 against everyone else - still decent, but not as impressive as it first seems.

Narduzzi has been solid. Little better than Adazzio at BC.

Good point about the scheduling advantage with Syracuse

I'll admit the Panthers have one of the toughest schedules in the ACC this year. That said, I'm not sure the league didn't do Pitt a favor.
