RE: Troy at #18 BYU - ESPN - 10:15 EST
That was a rough game. Only watched the first half, but Troy was losing the trenches badly. I will say I have a lot of respect for the way BYU plays the game. I might disagree with them philosophically but they play really clean hard nosed football.

La Tech doesn't stand a chance. They may score a few more points, but there's no way La Tech can hold their own against BYU in the trenches for 4 quarters.

This BYU team, in a normal season is top ten one of the better teams they have put on the field In a long time. Troy played hard, and had a few positive moments, but they were outgunned at most positions. Rumor is, months ago there was serious talks between APP and BYU playing this yr, glad it didn’t happen, not sure we would have fared any better than Troy.

I can't say it enough... I don't think anyone can match up with BYU this year other than some mid to upper-level P5's.
I've watched a lot of football over the years... and I've never seen a team with so much size before. The closest I can think of is maybe some of the Alabama or Wisconsin teams over the years. And it's not just BYU's lines... it's the whole entire team that's massive. Just look at their depth chart.
I hope BYU can schedule some P5 teams somehow this year, just so we can see how good they are.

We certainly can't do much worse than what Troy did.

It not only their size and athleticism, but they really give maximum effort on almost every play, their defense really runs downhill to the ball, a lot of gang tackling, and man, they are aggressive.

It wasn't meant as a dig to La Tech. It's just that BYU is that good and I don't see many G5's other than UCF/Memphis/Boise State being able to match with them.
You actually could do worse than Troy. Navy did a little worse.

After the Navy game I knew BYU was a beast. They are just too good and have a lot of maturity on that team. Only the elites would be favored against them. Anyone else would be a toss up or an underdog.
I was pulling for Troy, but didn't believe you had a chance.
FIDO.

I was hoping our team speed could somehow overcome their size... so I was trying to believe we had a chance.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of thinking BYU wouldn't be as fast since they were so massive... sheesh.

Yes we will. It'd sure be helpful if some of our starters, especially on defense, are back. We've been playing without several of our defensive starters as they've been quarantined due to exposure to the corona virus. We had to start several true freshmen in our first two games, but hopefully this week we'll get most of our true starters back.

You called it. We couldn't hang with them. BYU might be the best G5 team in the nation this year. We aren't close.
