Spring Sports guesswork
Trying to guess what sports will look like in the Spring

Football: 4H 4A opponents JMU; Liberty/Richmond; W&M; UMASS; UConn; Hampton; Toledo, Akron, Ball State, (the 3 last three all random MAC opponents).
Impacts: Rahne breaks in a new team without the ACC grind of OOC, games should be all Saturday tilts and should be marketable to RSN TV

Baseball, WLAX, Tennis, Sailing and Golf- normal schedules, reduced travel and SID support
Impacts: athletes/teams in normal competition

MSoccer WSoccer 12 OOC matches, limited travel and SID support
FH and Volleyball no season or very few OOC games
Impacts: young teams grow, no postseason chances

MBB and WBB season starts Dec 1, prior to December games canceled or rescheduled
Impacts: new coach for WBB gets more time (can she get some more staff?)
MBB stalls any momentum that could be envisioned
CUSA full schedule with post-season chances

RE: Spring Sports guesswork
Out of schools not playing, Id like to see a schedule with UMass, UConn, Maryland, Rutgers, Ohio, Eastern Michigan (rematch!), HU, WM.
2 indy, 2 Big 10, 2 MAC, 2 FCS. Take the two Big10 teams at their place for a payday to offset our losses. Play UConn and EMU away, play UMass, Ohio, HU and WM at home. We'd get two paychecks, two interesting local FCS matchups, a great rematch of the Bahamas bowl. Maybe return games with UConn and Ohio too.

If ODU football plays in the spring, it should be 4-6 games max. Any more and you put them at a competitive disadvantage with the rest of the conference whose teams will be resting from their abbreviated fall season.

The non-rev sports probably can get away with playing more games, since they're not as high-impact as football (and Big East field hockey is already postponed so they don't have to worry about scheduling for that unless the BE says no to spring sports too)

Agree. IMO this spring will not resemble a true season. 1-2 games, just glorified scrimmages.

If playing in the spring costs a year of eligibility, I wouldnt do it at all.

That would be cruel really. There is no way it could count as a regular "season" with regard to eligibility.

I'd like ODU to play 8 games.

Ohio State
Penn State
Akron
Buffalo
Boise State
Utah State
UConn
UMass

RE: Spring Sports guesswork
If player safety is important, it’s hard to justify playing in the spring with the short offseason it would create for fall 2021. So just play a couple scrimmages against local schools and the standard spring game.

In rare agreement here. No way in hell should we play a spring season and then turn around and try to play a fall season. Just cut our losses and move on if we can get a bailout from somewhere. At most play a "friendly" against Liberty or JMU if there is ticket demand and no size restrictions.
