WAC Sports
Tarleton sponsors 5 of the 9 WAC men's sports and 8 of 10 WAC women's sports.

When Tarleton was invited to the WAC, was there something in writing, that said Tarleton must add sports within a certain amount of years?

Chicago St. was suppose to add men's soccer when they were invited, then they faced budget issues, and it took longer than expected.

Will the fallout from the virus cause a delay in Tarleton adding any sports?

Soccer, men's golf, swimming & diving have all been kicked around.

Soccer was first on the list because we already have a turfed soccer field the Varsity Sport could use.

The. Covid hit... not sure where they are with it now.

I was told women’s soccer and men’s golf was going to be added in 21. Now I understand both are scheduled to be added in 22

Sounds good to me. There is a lot of soccer and golf talent in the area.

Surprised a football school doesn't have women's soccer for Title IX reasons. I would bet that 95% of football schools have all four main women's sports- volleyball, soccer, softball, and basketball.

For D2 schools, there are only 36 Football scholarships so you don’t need a huge amount of women’s sports to get equality. Now we are going to 63 football scholarships, we must add some women’s’ teams.

Tarleton has gone too long without a representing us in that. We'd be the best in Texas if not the nation.

Seriously, though if needed what about swimming and diving?

My understanding both have been discussed as possibilities once the new aquatic center has been completed.

RE: WAC Sports
So there was no requirement for Tarleton to add sports within a certain time frame?

I believe we are at the D1 minimum number of sports which is 14, 6 men’s and 8 women’s.

The WAC required adding women’s soccer during the transition period
