Question About NHL Reopen August 1
In the ADG today, there is an article about the National Hockey League’s plan to resume their season on August 1st with the games scheduled to be held in Canada because of the raging pandemic in the US. Fine, but since the Canadian border is closed, how are any US teams or players going to get to Canada to participate?

We got an answer to this question this morning, 7/19/20, in the ADG. The NHL got a waiver for hockey players from the US to enter Canada, primarily because they will have all matches at only two sites, Edmonton and Toronto, and will not be going back and forth over the border.
The MLB Toronto Blue Jays, however, will not be playing any home games, as baseball players will not be allowed to go back and forth across the Canadian border as would be required by the MLB plan.

RE: Question About NHL Reopen August 1
Can't excted about watching pro sports in empty stadiums. Don't watch much pro sports anyway, and it will "feel" more like a scrimmage than a real game. I may watch the Grizzles a bit, to see if they can sneak into the playoffs to play the Lakers. I was actually somewhat excited, a few months ago, about the possibility of going to see a Grizzlies' playoff game in Memphis. But, like I just said, I'm not sure if I'll be up for these "made of TV" sports events.
College sports? At this point, I don't think they will happen this Fall, but I would think we'll have to get an answer on that pretty soon. It's college basketball I'm most concerned about and I don't think we'll know about that for awhile. Pushing it back until after the New Year now, giving them multiple months to prepare and assess the situation, may be the best idea. At least, having a vaccine by then is possible, although still unlikely.

I think we all better get used to watching sports on TV with empty, or nearly empty, stands. I just hope the pros can do it, so at least there would be some hope for colleges to follow their model.

RE: Question About NHL Reopen August 1
There might not be NFL Football season, according to 75 players being down w/COVID-19 and Union players demanding safety while dealing with the pandemic. Should there be no NFL this year, I have 3 suggestions: 1) play Madden 21 2) watch world football (soccer) 3) support Trojan Athletics this Fall

I'm not fully ready to make a prediction about LR Athletics this Fall (I do think the odds are against it). But, if the NFL doesn't play, there's no way Fall college sports happen.
