What’s really behind the violence in CHICAGO?

Sad, complicated and challenging set of factors deeply rooted and at play.

No simple singular answers.

N. Lawndale on the west side used to be very prosperous 70 years ago. Western Electric had HQ and manufacturering there. I can remember Sunbeam did too back into the 60’s. Have an acquaintance who runs a medical clinic, school and mentoring program out of an old Cadillac dealership from back in the day. Got the Malnati Bro’s. to open their 10th Pizza location symbolically as a tithe (1/10) with the foreknowledge it wouldn’t be profitable for quite sometime. But would be a beacon of light to the neighborhood. Some jobs. A local restaurant. A commitment looking forward. But the city has other priorities. They chose not to encourage more or even acknowledge the attempt.
