Pastner is still coach there. They just had a postseason ban for impermissible benefits. They should have to serve that this upcoming season since all of us missed the postseason.

Love the opponent. Hate the date, right before Christmas. I suspect that will hurt us attendance-wise with folks traveling for the holidays, and no students around. I also suspect that AK will have some excitement building by that time, and we'll have a whole lot of folks back who have found someplace else to be the past few years.

Perfect. We need to take what we can get and not try to dictate terms we don’t currently deserve. Let’s win some big games then we can get some home and homes with power Conference teams.
Weirdly enough I might be more excited about the return game(s) than them coming here. I've always been curious about going to a game there. Now AK just needs to lock up Georgia State this year to complete the D1 Metro Atlanta hoops circuit.

I'll be there.
A crowd of 8.367 showed up on Dec. 22, 2009 to see UAB beat Butler. It was a great atmosphere. Now, Georgia Tech is not nearly as good as that Butler team, but, hopefully there will be a similar crowd and similar atmosphere.

Love visiting the Georgia State Sports Arena. My vehicle was stolen once while visiting there about a block from venue. Just plan to park in deck next time instead of convenient street spot. It was convenient location to catch Marta to airport to rent a car to get home. Otherwise, I'd like a series with Ga State.

It should be noted that the Butler loss to UAB was its last loss for that season until they lost to Duke in the National Championship Final Four game,

If I recall correctly UAB went into halftime with a pretty sizable lead with AJ dominating whoever their PG was and Milsap having a helluva game. Second half was better for Butler when they put a larger body (Gordon Haywood) on AJ and slowed him down a bit...

Yes, I was there. But we are a far cry from even where we were in 2009; or at least we WERE in February. We have lost a lot of fans in the last eleven years. Our core was down to maybe 1,500 fans for most home games, and we probably didn't have 3,000 in the building in any game except for Memphis. We have a long way to go to get that building full again.
As I mentioned in my original comment, I think AK is going to bring the excitement back (even if that might be limited some by leftover pandemic issues). And bringing in a quality opponent like Ga. Tech is one of the steps to doing that. I would sure love to see 7-8K in the building for that game.
