The MVC has a better record than every mid-major and multiple P5's in the NCAA Tournament, even excluding Wichita St, over the years. CBS even shows the graphic of it when MVC teams are playing. It is a stepdown in football, but it is an unquestionable stepup in basketball.

MVC was quite the basketball Conference, Cincinnati, Memphis, and Louisville with some of their best teams including National Championships
and lots of Final Four appearances.

And even in the past 5 years, excluding Wichita St, the MVC's NCAA Tournament winning % is .600, which is better than nearly every league in the country.

I forgot about Loyola's magical run. That was fun to see. Creighton and Wichita State leaving was a huge blow to that conference.

But football is unquestionably the top college sport and moving down to 1-AA would be a huge downgrade. The only time you ever hear about 1-AA is when North Dakota State is winning another championship. The only time i ever see a 1-AA on a national network channel is when they are playing a P5.

Or their national championship game. Whereas the P5 "national championship game" was on E$PN.
