I warned y'all I was doing this.
Today I crashed, Kool-Aid Man style, through the fabric of spacetime into a parallel world where we were able to play a Belt baseball tourney (in order to send at least one rep, and hopefully more, to regionals). Teams were seeded based on their OOC records, and the uneven scheduling meant that all teams were included in the field. Thus our Game 1 features #5 Georgia Southern hosting #12 Arkansas State.
Both teams will look back at a lot of missed opportunities from this one, with a total of 19 men left on base for the contest. Arkansas State accounted for 10 of those but still carried a 1-0 lead into the bottom of 8th. The Eagles then broke the game open against Red Wolves reliever Jack Jumper, only managing one hit in the inning but stacking that on top of an error, two walks, and a hit batsman to score three. This is all Southern would need to spoil the scoreless 4-hit outing given by A-State starter Will Nash.
Eagles reliever Hayden Harris picks up the win by delivering two perfect innings, and Nick Jones earns a save despite having to face a couple of extra batters in the 9th. All of Georgia Southern's RBI came from the bottom third of the order, with catcher Matt Anderson's bases-loaded, two-out single putting the Eagles on top for good.
From where I am in this alternate timeline, #6 App is about to hit the field vs. #11 South Alabama. Obviously I'll get those results to you as soon as I can get ahold of them.
