RE: Austin finally gets his degree....
A shame that someone so academically esteemed acts like a buffoon.
Thousands of people have law degrees and don't practice law. How the hell you equate being the premier sports writer of a major city akin to being a tattoo artist with a medical degree is beyond me.
Freaking liberal, that Calkins.

Well let’s see. I have a beautiful loving wife. I have a nice house on a lake and 150 acres. I have a nice retirement with paid insurance. Don’t owe any money to anyone. I fish about 4 or 5 days a week. I’m a Memphis Tiger fan.
I guess I’m doing ok.

I think some of you are too harsh.
I would never flat out discredit someone just because of their profession or where they are from. Some of my closest friends are way different from me politically too, and that's fine.
This thread should be about Austin, and or the article itself. Calkins did a fine job, per usual, and his politics shouldn't have to dominate this thread.

I had a personal interaction with caulkins when he first go here. He did just like the liberal media does and alter my quote to where it did not convey my original thought and used it against me. Asked for permission but did not mention he was going to heavily edit it to use against me. Straight up dick move.
Is that ok?
I’ve had several interactions with him. He’s also been on a couple of the Tiger trips with us (rebounders). He is a know-it-all dlck.

I don't like lawyers, liberals, sportswriters or yankees. Metaphors and haikus are my specialty.

Sure, maybe make a thread about it.
This isn't the place.

That has nothing to do with him being a die hard liberal.
What’s Being politically liberal or conservative got to do with sports or being a sports writer?

Should be nothing except that said 'sports' writer constantly interjects his liberal politics into his articles and radio show discussions.
If he didn't then no one would know what his political position is.
Personally, i would prefer that sports figures and Hollywood entertainers would keep their politics out of their work. Talk sports, write about sports, sing your songs, act in your movies, etc. but dont mix in your personal opinion about politics.

RE: Austin finally gets his degree....
Austin got hit hard here when he bailed. There's no real reason to compare his treatment to Tarik or KJ to try to make racial overtones that aren't there. (Jason Smith started this the other day.) All 3 were different situations, and all 3 got hit hard by fans.
However, Austin came back in the end to finish up a Tiger. For this, many will forgive him - whether he needs our forgiveness or not. He gave a good interview on 92.9 and really heaped thanks on to Dr. Rudd.
