RE: Transfer portal
I am surprised to see Kovacs on the list. He was getting some PT, and seemed to be working his way up.

My thoughts exactly. Had great size at 6'3" that you love to see in a receiver. Even more surprised to not see him land anywhere else yet...

Curious as to whether coaches pull scholarships for players that enter the portal. I would assume there are no restrictions on yanking the scholarships for players seeking to go elsewhere. I would hope not.

No concern that would backfire?

Schools are allowed to pull the scholarship, starting the semester after they put their name in the portal, but they don't have to. Whether they do I am sure varies by school, coach and player. Some will have burned their bridges already. But I am sure some coaches may let some players test the waters for a better opportunity but giving them a safety net to come back if nothing works out.

Kovacs graduated this spring, and he was only going to be a redshirt junior this season, so that's impressive. I imagine it's possible he's looking for a different opportunity for non-football reasons. Don't know.

RE: Transfer portal
Post on twitter today that 6'4 270# Iowa OL Jeff Jenkins is in the transfer portal and visited UT, and appears to be interested in transferring to Toledo. Was a redshirt FR last year and the backup center. Articles indicated that he decided to retire from football in January, but now has reconsidered (and this is the quote from twitter): "after his mom told him he couldn’t live at home next year." So, I dunno. He was a high 3 star coming out of HS.

"after his mom told him he couldn’t live at home next year." Not sure that's a great reason to offer him a scholarship. 03-banghead

RE: Transfer portal
RFr DE Jerome Henderson reportedly now in the transfer portal. Given all the DL verbals for 21, maybe not surprising to see some current DL leaving.

Perhaps he was being facetious.

RE: Transfer portal
Jerome Henderson has had persistent health problems. I thought he was a marginal recruit when we signed him. He was never going to play for UT. Best for him to move on. I wish him the very best. No loss for UT from a football perspective.

Go Rockets!
