I think the Transfer Portal has changed the building of a team. The staff now as to decide do you want to fill immediate one season needs or build for the future. If I understand the recruiting rules correctly :
You can sign up to 25 players a year with a maximum of 85 on scholarship. You pick up a player from the Transfer Portal that counts both the 25 and 85 numbers. The area that is going to play immediate problems, no matter how many players leave you can not exceed the 25 player limit. Big decision how many HS players do you sign not knowing the number of players jumping ship.

Also added a JUCO WR to plug in to replace McKoy. Eddie Lewis originally signed with Rutgers before going the JUCO route.

If you are 25 or under, other words if you signed the maximum number 25 than loose a player to transfer portal you can not replace him because you are at the allowed limit.

According to his profile he enrolled at KSU and entered the transfer portal on the same day. Something is screwy.

Maybe he thought he was going to Kansas State or Kennesaw State instead? Screwy indeed.

I’ve noticed the same exact error the last handful of times I’ve checked out the portal for various defections.

There a mix feelings of bringing back former players, I like that they know about the past of KSU, but can also get too caught in the past. (I.e Paul Haynes) On the flip side, someone who comes in new can bring in a fresh set of eyes, but not see the problems of the past.

The ideal would be someone who understands the past and has a vision of moving out of it. Probably a good lesson in life in general
