I didn't get my season tickets for football yet. Am I the only one?

And now that BGSU has raised the funds to save the program, Kyle Hallock is the new interim head coach.

Interesting that they specifically state they are making the coaches take pay cuts despite being amongst the lowest paid in the MAC. Curious if our fearless leader Joel will be feeling the burn himself since he’s the highest paid AD in the MAC? 03-phew

It did say he's taking a 10% pay cut (along with Sendy and Lewis)

No teams yet, but lots of rumors.
JN cut should have been more like 20-25%, but
Since President didn’t set a good example and take a big
Cut you can’t blame JN. Coaches are best thing about
the Athletic Dept and their cuts are cruel. They do
The work , most 24/7.

You’re right, while it was nice the AD took the 10% hit he ordered out of the coaches, they’re amongst the lowest paid in the MAC and he’s the highest paid AD. His should’ve been 15-20% IMO. The coaches are the ones putting in 80+ hour work weeks and many times more depending on the time of the year, they’re already underpaid for what they’re doing.

From Allen Moff's budget story this week in the Record-Courier and Beacon Jounral:

"Other expense cuts are expected to be made across the board as Nielsen attempts to reach his 20 percent reduction goal. Staff cuts will likely be made, but sources have indicated that Kent State is not planning to cut any sports. The Flashes currently sponsor eight men’s and 11 women’s sports."

RE: Kent State University to cut Budget 20% for 2021
In my opinion after watching the events unfold the last few months the AD self promotion strategy is becoming evident.
Don't let the "fact" that Nielsen had previously alienated major segment of alumni/community and thus fund raising was terrible. Use the numbers post virus for cover relating to poor numbers.
Presently your projected revenue stream numbers have dropped except for the 3 money games. Nielsen now using these numbers (money game payouts) to prove how smart he is by booking non winnable games.
The more I read about Kent State revenue stream have to ask .
Who the heck did the study that found millions of dollars in improvements to other sports besides football?
Please remember the new turf for the indoor facility was 100% private donations since Coach Lewis arrived

I think everything depends on the 3 money games. If we get paid the salary cuts and a few layoffs will work. If we don’t, nothing is safe. That’s one of the problems of relying so heavily on 3 games. It can collapse like a house of cards. Also I’m still not 100% convinced fall and winter sports will be played next year. Every pro league is still not playing and even the ones that looked promising are showing signs of disagreement. MLB over money, 75 NBA players worrying about the virus and the civil unrest, NHL the virus and NFL coaches like Harbaugh saying the rules would be impossible to follow. No sport is on the same page yet. If pros making millions won’t play, the colleges almost can’t play.

Right now I'm taking it one sport at a time. Right now we are in baseball season with no real site of baseball starting. Until then, I can't put too much weight on anything later than that.

With the Big Ten announcing they are dropping their non-conference games this season, there goes one big payday (Penn St). The economic impact on those mid-majors who depend on those games will be huge.

Depending on the language in the contract they (PSU) might be liable for the payday. It's not like their season was cancelled. They are backing out of the game and still playing conference games.
