Go Gonzaga!!
Looks like Holmes plays a Wayne Davis role at times.
Wonder if Josh Toner got his 3 star rating for playing OL or DL? I'm happy either way, but it'd be nice to get a DT that's already that size as a high schooler.

Both. Rivals lists him as a 3* DT while 247 has him as 3* OG and also this “Josh Toner is a 6-3, 285-pound Offensive Guard”. Where they put him might depend on the rest of the class, like if they still find another 3* OG they can bump him to DT. They recruited a TE and when they got a commit from the 2nd TE he is now listed as a DE or ATH. Can never have enough talent, especially when their versatility allows them to play them elsewhere.

From what I saw on film, Toner is quick, explosive, and powerful. I know we get some really good ones on D-line, but this kid looks special.... and big! I saw two sites that had him listed at 300 pounds. He is my favorite incoming Duke so far who can contribute right away at more than one position.

Check out this Philly Inquirer article on Josh and the accompanying pic. 300-pound high school sophomore DT with a lean frame and powerful legs. I am surprised he doesn't have a fourth star. We are very lucky to have this kid. Man, Cig is putting together one awesome team that I think will dominate at the G5 level and is picking up P5 recruits.

Hail Cig!

Now if he could only get onboard with helping to recruit his teammate Billy Osborn, a 6’5” QB getting looked at by everyone, that would be nice. 03-idea

Get ready for the onslaught of ranking changes. It has begun.

We will drop stars and others will start to magically gain them.

https://247sports.com/PlayerSport/Jon-Lu...nkHistory/

This guy magically went from zero stars to three stars on July 10th. All since he made a commitment to a g5 school.

Help me here..l.has anyone played football in 6 months? What changed? 01-wingedeagle03-lmfao

The player from NC seemed excited to play for the Dukes and a solid commitment to JMU. He posted a comment saying a conversation with his family led to his decommitment. Perhaps his scholarship was a partial offer from JMU? And the difference in the cost to attend JMU led to his withdrawal? Anyone have an insight?

He verbaled just about 6 weeks ago and even up to a few days ago has been tweeting and retweeting JMU, so it’s interesting to see what happened.

This sounds perfectly reasonable to me, more of the Freshman student athletes playing football are on partials than many believe.

I hope he and his family decide to stay but I completely understand if that is the case. Particularly if he is from NC and would be paying out-of-state tuition. Seemed like he was excited to play for JMU.

They could also be keeping an eye towards the depth chart a year from now, if the season is cancelled and everyone gets an extra year of eligibility.

Actually----more of the Freshman student Athletes playing Football are on Full scholarship than many believe.
Look at the offers for many of JMU's commits---Especially the last Two years (2020/2021). These kids have multiple FBS offers and many high level FCS. A kid that has the option of a Full ride FBS is Not gonna take an FCS partial.
In order for the high level FCS schools to compete to get recruits---Especially in the CAA---these schools have to come through with a Full scholarship offer. If a kid has Villanova, Delaware, UNH, Maine---he's not gonna take a partial over the school that offers the full ride.

Look at the recruiting classes, and look at the offers these kids have. JMU is basically competing with FBS G5/Mid-Majors. JMU is selling kids on tradition, a winning program, the ability for guaranteed playoffs, national championships, etc---for all things to be equal with the G5/Mid-Majors they're competing with, they most certainly have to come through with a Full Scholarship.

Sure, JMU fills the back end of it's recruiting class with partial scholarships. I'd say that most of the kids that commit late in the cycle are partials. But the early commits---Especially 2020/2021---are Full rides. In order to get these early commits, JMU must come through with a Full offer.

I don't know what happened with this kids commitment---But I'd say, more of the Freshman student Athletes playing Football are on Full scholarship than many believe.

Christopher Boti, 6-1 DE/DT from St. Vincent Pallotti in Laurel, MD commits in about 45 minutes.
He had us in his top 7 which included: Army, Buffalo, FIU, Liberty, ODU, UMass

Edit: He went with Liberty

I’m baffled how Liberty gets these kids to come to play for them.

Enjoy your prison sentence and backwards thinking.

That’s the only school where kids commit and I feel like they’re being sold snake oil. If a kid picks ODU over us, no big deal.

It's not that difficult really. The entire place is all about this...

What a pathetic pimple on the state of Virginia (along with Pat Robertson).

It's the only university I've noticed that has players transferring because of the backwards leadership and the toxic culture they provide. Usually transfers are for personal reasons or playing time.
