Classic UNCW moments
I called Denzel "The Assassin". He was one great clutch shooter.

RE: Classic UNCW moments
He really was clutch and made plays. He really got the most out of his ability. He had really good instincts as well. The defensive play at the end versus C of C in the 2016 CAA first round won the game. People may forget about that and just remember the Hofstra clinching one and the Bonnies road win.

cold Blooded! In my time of following the only one i can think of I'd want the ball in their hands more is Blizz.
Last 20 years of Clutch i'd go, Blizz, Ingram, Carter

Can't go wrong with those three....Rendleman was clutch as well.

All those guys were great players. Meanwhile, the ‘06 George Washington game has been posted... Oh, what could have been.

So many "could haves". I will say, I don't think we have ever been blown out in an NCAA game. Another game I have no idea how we lost. Up 18 with 11 minutes left....ugh.

Still hurts to watch all of the near-misses from over the years....

Was absolutely brutal! When we got the big lead the few K fans we had at the G Coliseum were rocking. I remember sitting in disbelief as the lead melted away.

I was there Hoops that night. It went from epic to terrible in about 30 minutes. We were a top 30 team at the time and rolling. The ride home was awful. We had that game wrapped up.

I know it's a "what if" situation, but can you imagine where UNCW would be if we'd have beaten Maryland and GW? Both were games we had in hand and managed to lose. Would have changed the course of UNCW basketball history....

Yup, for sure, because who knows what could have happened after. Maryland for sure, but let's not forget GW was 8/9 game.(i do recognize they might have been underseeded)

Bill- I was there as well, and still living in ILM, so it was an even longer, crappy ride home!

Nobody has been robbed more than the Hawks in The Dance. Good thing we finished off the Trojans. It sucked because we definitely had the Maryland game. And, GW would have been redemption and should have been. Any size and we finish off Duke and UVA too after kicking butt early in both games .

I knew you would like that one but I see both sides too. Duke had some big boys that year and we got into foul trouble. We just stopped playing for a spell in that UVA debacle. That definitely should have been a W.

The closest thing to a blowout would be our first trip to the dance in 2000, against # 2-seed Cincinnati. Our defense suffocated them but Blizzard (as a freshman) was held to just 5 points on 2-8 shooting and we fell 64-47.

Severely under-seeded. They only lost 2 games all season entering the tournament (one of which was the A-10 title game against Xavier, after going 16-0 in league play in the regular season), out of a highly competitive A-10 (as usual).

The NCAA seeded them that way, if I remember correctly, because Pops Mensah-Bonsu, one of their top 2 players, was hurt and questionable to play. Of course, he suited up and played 27 minutes.

I've never understood why the committee seeds a team lower based on a player injury. Why is that fair? A team's seed should be based on their performance that season. Period.

They also had a very low SOS(207) and i want to say it was like only 1 top 100 win. It was pretty bad by just about every metric except wins/losses. They only beat like 8 teams that had 15 mins, and 4 of those teams were barely .500. We actually had a higher RPI than them that year 28-37

When you win that many games it washes out a bit. They beat who was on their schedule. 16-0 in league play is damn impressive, whether it’s the ACC, A-10, or SWAC. That team deserved somewhere in the 4-6 seed range.

We deserved a higher seed as well, for sure. There’s no argument to be made that us facing GW in Rd 1 was fair. NEITHER team deserved a matchup like that. Those were both Sweet 16 caliber teams.

Great video tribute to 2000 team. I could watch the Daul heave all day. That was when we all knew that we were dancing. That was a really great group of young men.
