I know OBP measures plate discipline and SLG measures power, but I have 2 questions:

1) As the gap between AVG and OBP/SLG increseas, what can be gleamed from it?
2) Is there a meaningful correlation between OBP and SLG?

Not basing this off of any actual research but I would chalk up the gap between AVG & SLG to the growing concentration of HR or bust hitters in baseball.
