RE: WBB Offseason Thread
All day games for the women (including the midweek games?). That's a bit odd. I know they want 24 hours between the Friday and Saturday conference games, and some of the conference opponents will want to fly out of town Saturday evening after their game. But some opponents in conference play will bus to Rice - and even the HBU, TSU and Louisiana games are day games (on a Wednesday, Friday and then Wednesday again). I guess HBU is the day before Thanksgiving.

I heard that the MBB games would be video streamed, but no mention of WBB.

Both Duke and Arizona also canceled their season-opener.

First three WBB games listed as CUSA TV, ESPN+, ESPN+. So two different subscriptions (total $17/month).

I'm sure that more broadcast info will be added over time.

Six Rice women's conference basketball games have been selected for streaming on the ESPN+ platform, announced by Conference USA on Tuesday.

Also....

Due to COVID-19 protocols and safety measure currently in place, Rice University has announced no fans will be allowed to attend the season opener. Information on the status of future games will be released at a later date.

Not surprising. If the Admin will not allow a few thousand fans to spread out in a large, open air stadium, there was no way they were going allow a few hundred to gather indoors in a 5000 seat arena.

I just wish they would have the guts to say no fans until further notice. What’s going to change between game 1 and game 2?

I wonder if they will allow immediate family at BB games consistent with the current FB approach? I would hope so for the players and their families.

Not surprising, but extremely frustrating. They put season tickets on sale just one week ago.

I don't see Kendall Ellig on the roster anymore.

I've got to say going into a Covid-dominated season with just 11 players to begin with is not very encouraging. We really need Nancy Mulkey to be completely healthy for every game. And some of those sophomores who didn't see a ton of minutes last year (Ashlee Austin and India Bellamy) are going to have to play a ton more minutes this year.

Her LinkedIn says she is doing an MBA at Rice but also that she started a job in October at a Dallas based company. I'm assuming she's doing one of those remotely. Maybe not enough time for basketball.
