Thought to be a starter, now just gone? Did he ever see the court for us at all?

Look at this history of transferring and you can surmise that someone or something else is always the problem and not him. Therefore the grass is always greener.

Pure speculation on my part, but if it quacks like a duck it's probably a duck.

Jayvis Harvey enters the transfer portal. I was really rooting for him, and i thought i saw a lot from him in the freshman scrimmage. I think coach B and him came to a mutual understanding, he is probably better served elsewhere. From all accounts, a great kid. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up!

Agreed.

I saw potential in him with his size and athleticism on the perimeter but he never grew into the player I thought he could become.

My hope is we find someone with "more" potential..

Coaching can make the difference between a #300 team, and a #150 team. But to get up to a top 75 Program - we need to also upgrade talent. Harvey leaving gives Mark another opportunity to upgrade our talent.

Seemed like a good kid and wish him the best but I like the idea of Coach B having that scholarship available. So far the talent level he has brought in is an upgrade over what we had with Rowe in most cases. Plus he can now sell a winning program in a beautiful facility.

It didn't seem like he got a lot of minutes until later in the season after Lewis was out. Wishing him the best. Thank you, Jayvis!

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Jayvis is the kind of player who is really easy to root for. He always boxed out, hustled on defense, played smart and got in good position. He just couldn't shoot. Rowe should have used him a lot more, because he provided things that other did not. On the current team, everyone plays that way, so I completely understand the decision.

Good luck Jayvis!

TJ seemed out of position at JMU. Sucks that we weren't able to find a spot for him.

UNCW has 5 guys out. Including Boggs and Pridgen who played big minutes for them.

Sidddle has a big rebuild job on his hands

Hoping we can get Greg Parham, who is transferring from VMI. One year of eligibility left. I put an article on him in the recruiting thread.

Ohio is a pretty solid team- depending on the draw they may be a good upset pick. Big Dwight played well this season. Another JMU tourney connection is assistant Rob Summers now the head assistant at Cleveland State- remarkable turnaround by Dennis Gates.

Also 1 rumored coaching target (legitimate) Dustin Kerns at App State and two message board coaching targets (Rick Pitino Iona and Bryce Drew Grand Canyon) are dancing. I believe it would have been Byington and JMU if Lewis doesn’t go down with the knee injury.

RE: Hoops transfers forecast
Losing Jayvis and TJ sucks, but we have too many pieces in their slots. It was a log jam and they were wasting away on the bench.

We have a pretty massive front court hole. Amadi is really a unique athlete, and to be honest, the fact that he was option 3 or 4 for his #1 nationally ranked HS team made him an EVEN BETTER a get for JMU. He learned to play within his game, share top billing, and do what he does and do it amazingly well. Reminds me A LITTLE of Juwann James (aka JYD) in that regard, but with a few more inches and a handle.

After Amadi we have zero. Mensah is a bust, Jacobs graduates (unless he stays which I wouldnt expect). This needs to be addressed with the vacated slots.
