Does STF even monitor this and research what they are doing right and we are doing wrong?
True for the "What's there to do in Muncie", but what is there to do in DeKalb. DeKalb and Muncie are really like identical twins. I think it all comes down to culture. Going to be a basketball game at Ball State is engrained into culture much like going to church. NIU could do the right things for 2 or 3 years straight and still only see minimal uptick due to the deep cultural apathy. It will take a solid 2 to 4 year of fan outreach and doing things the right way to bring people back. NIU has neglected its basketball program for about 20 years now, and changes wont come overnight. It would be like eating bad for 20 years and weighing 400 pounds, it takes time to chisel away at it. What sucks, is there is no sign anytime soon NIU will be willing to do the right things to begin process. We have ADs over past 2 decades that have very short-sighted views and are not willing to invest the time or effort to build a program. They think in 2 year time scales not decade to two decade time scales. Their time scales are dictated by their next gig, not the benefit of the university and athletic program. I got a call last week from the Ball State athletic department asking me about the Ball State basketball experience because I went to the game there last year. Does NIU do this, do they call out to people who attended games and ask for feedback?
Competion for fans is different..we are close to U of Wisconsin, Northwestern, DePaul, Loyola and various other colligate venues that it is almost impossible to compete wth these fan bases time and money...
I think when Ball State called, they assumed I was a Ball State fan attending the game. It was just refreshing to see a school call asking about fan experience and how they could improve. I have received similar calls from WMU after attending events there.

NIU would have to lose their six remaining games and even then they probably wouldn’t be a bottom four road team for first MAC tourney game. You should want Akron to lose. NIU currently has a good chance at the one seed!

I wouldn't say good chance, slight chance perhaps? Zips will essentially have a 2 game lead on NIU after tonight with 6 to play when you consider the head to head tiebreaker Akron owns.

If after tomorrow’s games BG, Akron and NIU all have 9 wins I like the Huskies chances at a one seed.
