A key point is being left out, NSU was on the verge of losing their accreditation. They did a great job in reversing course and fixing those issues. But accreditation was the whole reason they ever considered a merger. And once that got sorted out, that talk ended.

NSU also just lost Mike Hermann, which eliminated a serious hole at third base.
