Schedule Changes For Hughes Bros Challenge

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Due to inclement weather, UNCW has adjusted the schedule for this weekend's Hughes Bros. Challenge at Brooks Field.

Butler is unable to compete this weekend due to travel issues, reducing the field to three teams.

Bowling Green and Marshall open the weekend's schedule on Friday at 3 p.m. in the day's only game.

The Seahawks take on Bowling Green and Marshall at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with another twinbill as Marshall takes on Bowling Green at 11 a.m. and closes out the day's games with a 3 p.m. first pitch against UNCW.

So rather than 4 games this weekend the Seahawks will get 3, and no game tomorrow.

Bowling Green picked up their first win of the season tonight at the Hughes Bros Challenge, defeating Marshall 5-3. The Falcons improve to 1-3, while the Thundering Herd falls to 0-4.

We face BGSU at noon tomorrow, followed by Marshall 40 minutes after the first game of the day concludes.

It will be cold for morning tailgate at 10.it also will be long day at uncw with basketball game at 7.

You’re telling me! My voice is gonna be shot tonight, lol.

Gonna be a fun day though. Busiest one of the year from a sports standpoint with softball also going on all day.

Lineup today against Bowling Green sophomore RHP Tyler Hays (0-1, 2.25 ERA, 7 K's, 4 IP), who evidently is an "all breaking balls" type of pitcher:

Both baseball games and the basketball game tonight will be on 95.9 FM

Looks like Baldwin is the guy at SS,heard that Smith the choice early on. He looks like the closer of sorts.

Well you were spot on with Croom! He's looked great.

2-way players are tough to read sometimes. Smith has been looking great on the mound.

BGSU gets their first baserunner off Sharpe with 1 out in the 7th, on a walk.

Sharpe's final line: 7.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 8 K's, 1 BB. He faced the minimum and threw 98 pitches.

Deatherage enters and K's the first batter of the inning.

Deatherage strikes out the side!

2-0 Hawks, bottom 8th.

Hawks tack on 3 runs in the 8th and are still batting! 5-0.

Deatherage stays in to pitch the 9th.

BG gets a leadoff infield single. Dammit.

No combined No-Hitter today.

Bowling Green puts up 2 in the 9th and now have the tying run at the plate with 2 outs. 5-2 Seahawks.

Hawks win game 1, 5-2!

Game 2 of the doubleheader with Marshall will start at 3:40.
