RE: 2021 Official Verbal Thread
WR George Gumbs, a very recent recruit, has received a 247 sports rating of a 3*, 0.8367. This makes George tied for our 2nd highest recruit in this class. Great height for a WR at 6' 4". Our latest MAC team recruiting ranking at 247 sports has risen from 4th to 3rd in the conference.

RE: 2021 Official Verbal Thread
I think Hammock has been doing great recruiting. But looking at this class coming in I noticed something. The lack of offers. I think offers is another decent measure of evaluation. Here’s the top 4 Mac teams total offers for their top 10 recruits:
Tol: 58-G5, 21-P5
Buf: 63-G5, 22-P5
NIU: 25-G5, 7-P5
Mia: 60-G5, 10-P5
May not mean a thing. But it might indicate how well you’re beating out other teams for players.

Didn't we have a huge recruiting class last year? Could there be less spots available?
Separately, I'm not sure how number of offers relates to quality. It's who gets the offers and their interest in us.

Im not sure it relates to quality of the player. What I think it relates to is the popularity or attractiveness of your program. If multiple kids choose you over 10 other schools it says a lot. When you’re their only offer it doesn’t necessarily mean he even liked your school. You were just his only option. I also look at offers as second opinions. The more schools that see something in a kid the more likely he might be to succeed. But it really all may mean nothing. That’s just my thoughts.

This year is an outlier ... remember the big boys have the same issue all of us will - no one is losing their eligibility at the end of this season. They have to force guys out. They likely aren’t offering as many kids to prevent a huge booting.
So the big boys aren’t offering as many - and likely aren’t going to put a ton of effort in to prying guys away when they really don’t “need” the commits.
Hammock has a real nice class, 3 is pretty high - when was the last time we were ranked higher?
Edit: just looked - we were higher in 2006 (#1!). Not a great class either...Kube, tense, and some others. A nice class...but eh.

Remember that Illinois and wisconsin? Don't have high school football. No video of senior year. Kid could be 6' last year now 6'2" and put on 25 lbs of muscle. Lifting, running, agility all that can do

Love that Hammock and his staff are getting some kids from Nendick. I know we lost out on a ton of talent unfortunately during the Carey days.

This appears to be another HUGE class. Average age of the team might even go down.

GO HUSKIES!!!!
Big DB for a Incoming freshman. Working out with CFL players!
This kid could be a steal. Those drills were run in the US, at what I assume is a camp against decent enough talent.

Good to see walk ons still going strong.
This kid looks really good.
His Dad played for Bower's Dad at EIU
Wow. Is Bowers the gift that keeps giving?
